  1. check wiring to spark plugs mine was mullered and had to rewire it as good old cable was rotted normal on these cars, drivers side electrics in door shut 4 broken wires, tailgate wiring 3 wires replaced, if not look at coil packs which are very expensive mine was luck as it was faulty wiring.
  2. hi had my new mk 2 1.9tdi zetec a few days now could you guys tell me is suspension is harder on a zetec model, my dad said when he bought his focus many years ago dealer told him it had firmer suspension on a zetec model, he maybe right must admit a much more plated feel at high speeds just bumpy going over the hudreds of speed bumps where i live.

  12. hi guys anyone know what the chrome hangers that go on the seats go for from fords or how much do thay roughly cost secondhand, i know you dont see many cars with them and wondered if thay cost a packet hence why nobody buys them, thay look classy and very usefull and fancy a set really want to go to town when i get my new bus hopefully this week or next fingers crossed. thanks steve :)
  13. looks like i wont be going down the chipping and mapping route then will just have to make the beast look good, still got plenty in mind for her though just got to wait now for the money and then i can go buying, i cant wait at least this time i wont be desperate to buy the first one i see our present bus was needed bad as we didnt have a car did look at quite a few dogs though, mind you was a good find 1 owner from new aircon that works just a few war wounds, and normal galaxy stuff broken horn buttons, broken speaker grills, and the high level brake light not working which turned out to be broken wires in tailgate, has been a very good car with only a few things ive had to do really 2 rear shocks, a back box, dog bone engine mount thing, top mount and front shock, droplinks, tyres, a few service items and thats it, she passed her mot every year with a few advise notices which i done, new owner will be laughing a very reliable car for us will be sad when the old bus goes but cant wait for the new one.
  14. oh right green is suposed to be my lucky colour according to my stars, never had a green car never will i think, going back to the wives you cant live with them and you cant live without them, my mrs is a diamond though puts up with a lot from me.
  15. 115 it is then dont fancy an auto heard so many horror storys on auto boxes and very costly to repair, wife does not like auto's either and its mainly her car i just have to fix it when its broke, funny wife always says its my car when its broke, dont fancy a green one either our current car is a weird colour flurie red i wont be buying another dodgy colour what have you got against green one's then.
  16. points taken i wont be buying one then thanks guys you have to ask these questions never had a diesel in my life so a whole new kettle of fish to me, i know my way round a petrol engine but not diesel im sure i will learn ive done enough work on my petrol gal over the 4 years ive had her so im sure i will learn about diesel's, i do have one diesel at the moment and thats my dog his names diesel he was all dirty when we got him hence his name. thanks guys.
  17. In a word... yes, but mainly because of what you are coming from. The 2.3 is 143Bhp so dropping to just 90 will be noticeable - you wont overly feel it at low speeds on acceleration as the 90 produces more torque then the 2.3 but as you reach higher and onto motorway speeds you'll really miss that extra bhp, especially if you are laden. 115's shoudn't be hard to find though on a Mk2 as they were nearly always the specified option? *Edit* I should clarify that I've never driven the 90ps version so it would be best to wait for the opinions of people who have driven both, however I went from a 2.3 to a 115 and found it fractionally slower as above so loosing a further 25 horses would have bothered me. Likewise 115 to 130 was a noticeable increase. thats cool im not that fussed really i need to have the economy over speed really but good to have a bit of poke under your foot sometimes, one thing i have noticed is the mpg dont change much throughout the range even going up to the 150 ps engine doesnt change much, and yes most of the cars im looking at are 115 ps engines only one 130 ps on autotrader at the moment but a 115 would probably do me hopefully should get one in the next couple of weeks. cheers steve
  18. hi guys looking at a galaxy diesel as petrol 2.3 is becoming costly to run, mainly looking at 115 and the odd 130 but seem to be quite rare to pick up, my question is are the 90 ps engines really underpowered i dont want to go from a 2.3 then jump into something thats going to be really slow, if so i will stay clear of the 90 ps models. cheers steve
  19. They first started fitting them in 2003 (53 plates) and the Mk2 stopped production in 2006 hence where the 03>06 years come from. The grills are interchangeable with earlier ones though so X>06 however you'll need the chrome strip fitted to the bonnet to complete the look and that involves drilling and riveting and if you want it perfect then the bonnet release lever should be changed so it won't catch. I've done three now and its not that hard :o nice one im a bit handy so shouldnt be a problem, im looking at a few 2003 models aswell so might not need to be modified hopefully get my money soon so i can go and get me new bus. thanks steve
  20. thats what i wanted to know, ive heard you can increase the bhp and make them quite quick but thought this was to easy. cheers steve
  21. hi have any of you guys used one of these and are thay any good, or is there any horror storys in using them ie causes damage or poor running. thanks in advance steve http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT
  22. hi could you tell me if mk 2 grills are all the same through out the years im looking at getting rid of my mk 1 and getting a mk 2 diesel, and really like the crome grills ive found them on ebay but says for models 2003-2006 thay all look the same to me. cheers steve
  23. i took the plunge and ordered the lead and software
  24. good news today i found the purple vag com port its under the second ashtray section, last night i read loads of post's off here ref vagcom leads and software and see that a lot of people had grief with loading drivers and all sorts of problems, i may go with a stand alone hand held device as im not to clever with computers and found this one it covers quite a lot of different software and should hopefully work, come pay day i might invest in one still waiting for bloody shock absorber to come what a waste of a nice day. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT
  25. i lifted out the ashtray shiney plastic unused looked for port cant see anything but there is another shiney plastic bit which looks like its held in by a screw, will have a look tomorrow hopefully i will be doing my dreaded topmount tomorrow if my shock absorber turns up not a job im looking forward to.
