  3. hi guys im looking at a garage to fit a cambelt and waterpump to my 140,000 51 plate turbo diesel as its due one, been given two prices one being car fitted with cambelt, water pump and a cambelt damper at
  4. ive used wynns prouducts in the past and they have been very good, ive ordered it now just need to find out where to squirt the blood stuff is it take off airbox a and squirt down there or somewhere else. steve
  5. ive had many toad alarms over the years and have never had a problem with them, i didnt know the control module was moved that could cause a problem as it was quite easy to work on under the seat, i cant get my remote to light up so i think thats buggered and keys are so expensive to buy even on ebay they go for silly money , i just thought it might be worth my while investing in one of these kits and would work from further away aswell and be more reliable.
  6. this sounds like the trouble im having with mine exactly same symptoms, so i just ordered a can from ebay
  7. been as good as gold today very strange indeed, i will have a look at filters and when the weather gets better i will have a good look at turbo and wastegate. thanks for reply steve
  8. hi guys i have a 1.9 tdi 2002 115 zetec, i drove the car down the motorway at the weekend and it was very slow you could hear turbo wistle but no assistance from turbo it felt like it wasnt working, pulled cover off next day to see if i could see anything ie pipes off or anything and couldnt really see turbo looks like might be easier underneath nothing found really, following day i drove it and car was back to normal pulling like a train and yesterday i drove again and its back to be slow again, does anyone have any ideas on what it could be, only thing ive done is put a shot of redex in it when i last filled up, could it be ive dragged up some crap and it keeps going round the system or just a coincidence praps. any help appreciated many thanks steve
  9. hi guys anybody know where i could get a cambelt kit from cheap (pref genuine ford item) i need my cambelt changing and going to have water pump done aswell, just thought i would ask if anyone knows of a website or something, i was looking last night but didnt find much to be honest lots on ebay but aftermarket parts and i think with cambelts should be the real deal always buy genuine on cambelts not really fussed on other parts but cambelts a different story.
  10. got my first set off ebay had them on car for year and a half and just sold it a mk 1 2.3 glx still working fine and just bought another set from same seller
  11. must be national droplink day i changed mine today and what a difference no banging suspension and one happy wife, i do the bottom bolt first as top bolt holds if firm while you undo it as antiroll bar is a bit floppy to get a good hold of, then i got impact gun and 15mm spanner and off she come battery impact gun great investment for jobs like these, i painted calipers while i was there aswell been a busy boy toady and started refurb on mullered alloys the old bus is comming along nicely.
  12. i cheated today i made a start on refurbing my mullered alloys and had some silver paint left in my gun, so i sprayed my foglight surrounds and my grill silver just for now till i can afford the real deal, all in my shed drying at the moment sprayed in 2 pack so still a bit tacky to stick on but should pop on tomorrow, ive been very busy today got rid of the annoying banging from front droplinks that were well knackered and painted front calipers at the same time while i was there droplinks have made such a difference i was very suprised, i changed them on my mk 1 galaxy just because i got them cheap but drives very nice now wife was very impressed with results, only had car just over a week and done so much in such a short time.
  13. i would also check for broken wires aswell make sure battery terminals are tight and see if anything is draining battery like courtesy lights and things like that, it may been you have been sold a duff one not unheard of.
  14. they didnt do a 1991 galaxy earliest was an n reg i think which is 95/96 and is a mark one, mark two's came out in 2000 i believe and haines dont do a workshop manual for the mark two sadly, im sure someone will post up another manual as i would also like a manual for mine as ive just gone over to a mark two galaxy from a mark one and still have my haines manual as some things havent changed ie suspension and brakes and other stuff only thing is ive gone from petrol to diesel now aswell and need to learn where everything is.
  15. anybody im looking at these two items as both are a good make ive used toad many times in the past with no trouble at all. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=310093579091&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290446240484&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT what to you guys think.
  16. thanks for that i wont be looking at buying new suspension then must say the high speed handling is 10 times better its just all the speed humps and really bad roads where i live thats getting on my nerves, still early days only had new bus a week or so hopefully get used to it just going to replace front droplinks might even have a dodgy topmont pas side that might need changing yet see how it goes.
  17. im currently waiting for some laquer to arive and will be doing my wheels myself as thay are quite badly scuffed, im doing mine in 2k silver as should last longer and with a decent coat of laquer should look quite nice mine are the zetec alloys though and have a few digs, my wife curbed one of my 17" wheels on a nice vauxhall omega v6 i done up i was going to get it done but couldnt justify
  18. ive read so many horror stories of auto boxes and and a friend of mine has an auto his is 03 plate auto not sure if mark 1's use the same boxes but you see so many of them for sale on ebay with problems with boxes he has loads of problems with his loss of reverse not going in certain gears the lot and they are so expensive to replace or get fixed, i would stick with niggles if it was me as if it goes wrong it could be costly, ive just got rid of a mk 1 2.3 glx as it was getting to expensive to run we also only do very low millage ours is only 4,000 a year, had our bus 4 years and done 12,000 in that time only replacing service items in that time never broke down on us one thing i will say is your new car has low millage with probably not a lot of wear on the gearbox it would be a gamble i think, a hard one to make a decision on i think.
  19. will be doing mine soon got to take wheels off to do droplinks so going to paint them red also, should look nice on a black galaxy i have some paint left over from doing my car a toyota mr2 got 3/4 of tin left over so going to do rears also as my wheels need a refurb, just waiting for my laquer to arive i have the primer and 2k silver paint but just need laquer and im ready to go bloody ebayer sellers taking time to deliver im hoping to start this next week.
  20. hi guys on the later models of galaxy ghia's they were fitted with chrome handels and a chrome strip above rear numberplate does anyone now if these fit all models of the mark 2 and if it is just bolted on and does anyone have an idea of the price of these chrome strips. many thanks steve
  21. hi guys ive got fed up with the central locking on galaxys, its the second one ive had trouble with now and im thinking about having one of these fitted as keys are so expensive to buy even second hand, and just wondered if these are more reliable also can be given install instructions to fit it which i believe is mostly under passenger seat and i believe these work from further away aswell, anything anyone has got on these type of after market units would be a great help many thanks steve
  22. my mate had his chipped and is quite happy with the results better off the line and better econmy, not sure how he chipped his have to find out but he was well impressed, and i suppose everybody has opinions on these thats why i posted this to gauge interest.
  23. thanks for that might have to look into that then, my old mk 1 2.3 was a lot more of a comfortable ride than my new one i did change rear shocks and drivers side front and droplinks, but new one is a lot harder ride its handles like a sports car but own a sports car and like a more comfortable ride, new car has 16" alloys with 55 profile tyres against old with 60 profile tyres and 15" wheels its the only real diference i can see but not to cause such a firm ride, other thing car is fitted with tow bar maybe has harder springs on rear maybe just a thought will get under and have a look when i get a chance to got to fit new droplinks as one has play according to a receipt i found for a service cheap as chips for a pair and a doddle to change, done most of suspension parts on my old bus a few months ago including the nightmare top mount.
  24. anybody and i ment planted not plated doh!!!!!!
