While not denying any possible risk involved I would have to say we have jump started our galaxy with no apparent side effects (negative - connected to battery)

small black chip in the key housing  -
Iirc Ivor_e_tower tried to get to a meet down your way not long ago (cant remember who organised it) For us with 3 kids below 7 somewhere for them (or at least the mobile ones) to amuse themselves is useful, will probably try camping at the national meet in derbyshire this year but may well be inteerested in others.

Parking Sensors (front & Rear)
NikpV replied to galaxy_1.9TD_Zetec's topic in MKIII Technical section
Its very suspicious that you have no rear wash wipe coincidentally with no parking sensors, if one becomes defective it seems to disable all the othes on that end, if you have nothing front or back I would be looking under the passenger seat for a swimming pool with a parking sensor control box making a vain attempy at the breasts stroke..... -
the three point belt was standard from about mid 2001 onwards - any dealer that says otherwise may be avoided with loses anything essential. This guy recently converted his --> here

Just to say thanks to Steve & Family and Maz & Family for a nice day out we met at 11:30 am and left at 5:45, it was nice to meet you all and look forward to meeting again later in the year. Ours kids said they had a lot of fun (especially the youngster chucking half full fruit shoots at steve ) Will post some suitably embarrassing pictures later.

how many miles have you done in those 6 months ?? much tread left ?
-
yes and global closing also bypasses the safety feature where if the windoow is tight/jammed the motor stops - global closing will force it shut if at all possible - course it may bea problem with the motor itself !!
-
brinnnnnng alarm call ! ! ! one wire up / one wire down / common and it appears in the case of global opening/closing 2 more wires ..... still could be switch but some wires get constant flexing  maybe
-
IIRC the control box used to be under the seat but was moved to the bulkhead before your car was made (beware my memory I only remember my name because people shout it at me all day )
-
in fact the questions come up often, and it would be really good gregers if you could buy a selection of different types and lets us know - we could add it to the faq
-
the thing is this is a classic broken wire situation - I have one myself (rear passenger side window up) but global closing sorts it (separate wire), right sort of age -everything so like big_kev says check the wiring again
-
even my back tyres are done before then, 6 years a tyre!!! Same age car had 3 pairs on the front 2 on the back (backs are still fine though)
-
yes this is nothing to do with the lights out warning its an engine warning problem which is connectedto the brake switch on tdi
-
hijacker is implying that the switch on the brake pedal may be faulty - first thing to check on a tdi if the engine warning light comes on - costs about
-
thanks for that, how long will it take for the sensor to reach its 350ÂșC I assume that the sensor contains a heater rather than depending on exhaust gas temp due to the variations in the pO2 that this would entail. I wonder if the porosity being affect ed by the contaminants is the problem currently being experienced. Would disconnecting the sensor allow the ECU to use a failsafe value or do you think that nowadays the engines are running so close to the limits that it would still give a rough running engine?
-
if it were a non-reversible process then once the electrolyte had been used up you would need to replace the sensor. I presume that a higher concentration of oxygen would allow electrons to migrate thriugh the material ???
