  1. same here - is the plastic clip above locked in place so it doesn't rub
  2. Welcome to the forum  :D
  3. whilst the wifes map reading is quite reliable it ony really differs in tense sat nav : turn left in 400 yards sat nav : turn left in 100 yards wife: you should have turned left just there wife: now we are going the wrong way - I told you, should have turned left back there :D :D  What I like about sat nav is that it will recalculate if you miss a turn/turn off too soon or avoid hold ups
  4. how much if you don't mind me asking
  5. well the 338 is a sirf 3 chipset based gps - will get 8 sats in home or in the door pockets of the gal no problem at all
  6. had the clicking when the battery was dead - so as SK says check the battery - may have charged it up enough not to click but still cause other problems
  7. you should have these at the top of the b-pillar :)
  8. we use a globalsat 338 blue tooth - have the heated screen and no antenna - its wired to the power in the central top box (no wires showing) very fast to pick up signal - usual routine is : get in, turn gps on, mount pda (tom tom already running) by the time the pda is mounted - 15secs tom tom has the location - qed
  9. presumably you can feel the cut outs - would assume that holes for screws wound be there as well so how about trying to move a seat bracket into one as a trial - if you buy 12 more brackets you can get some of the plastic blanks for the current ones. I think the only way of finding out is to lift the carpet or cutout the carpet for one
  10. IIRC - its a long time since I did it - you need to reassemble the plug with sleeve after putting the rubber boot back on the plug then needs realigning, getting sleeve ring in the correct place before rotating it tight
  11. obviously not this man's best friend
  12. like you might accidently trap your kids hand (or wifes tongue It sould be noted that the window will if closed from the inside stop when it meets an obstruction and wind down some way - this safety feature is DISABLED when closing the windows from the outside of the car - global closing. IIRC it is also disabled if youy try and close the windows 3 times from the inside as well ;)
  13. To save having too many posts pinned in the Technical section I have put a link to this post in the 'Useful links' thread. Cheers
  14. :D :D :D :D
  15. probably added later, sigs update on all the posts you ever made :D
  16. wasn't doubting you mate - just wondered where you got the figures :D :D BTW interestingly you should compare the hot air produced by our esteemed moderator and a cows bottom :D :( :D
  17. could be the led in the remote - IIRC you have to press it 3 times to get car into programming mode, if the Led has suddenly gone U/S it would give your symtoms - could try asking ford if they can test it (they do the radio based remotes) - think the led is a common type - if you need a new led you could probably DIY
  18. If you slam the pedal to the metal the gearbox automatically goes into sports mode (not just the kickdown) it will hold the gear to much higher engine revs than a smooth acceleration has the Maf been changed - if not then its about time - the thick film sensor appears to degrade with age - this will affect both the mpg and acceleration sometimes dramatically (believe me) - new maf is available as an exchange part from fraud for about
  19. if they stamped the book as serviced but have told you they didn't do it (checking over doesn't change oil etc) and said that they wouldn't then surely it is fraud - it has cost the money needed for the parts and labour for the service
  20. could be a faulty brake switch which as matt jr says could manifest in brake lights not working - but not always
  21. how about counting galaxies in your head :D joking aside you have my sympathy - dammed frustrating :(
  22. same for our escort td no emissions,
