Where Do I Start Looking?!
Stevoo replied to deano41's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
sounds messed up lol. i would first check bulbs are ok, then check the fuses for the lights. if all ok your prob need an electrical engineer to have a gander at it. -
Didnt Want To Start , But Did
Stevoo replied to marinabrid's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I had this as well on mine, the bleeping can be the immobliser. make sure the chip in your key hasnt come loose. Also you may find like me my ECU main relay no 30 is faulty, this runs the ecu and in turn switches the Fuel pump relay no 167 on. -
Yes i can confirm the temp gauge are not accurate lol. Took my car to me uncles and plugged it into his ecu reading machine, Temp Gauge was on the M of normal and no fans spinning the actual temp from ECU was 87c. The fans is set to kick in @ 96c. and they cut off at 86. As many ppl post about temp guages going up to high and fans not cooling engine, Now most can now put their mind at rest. Both fans will spin at high speed if temp is very high as i had a loose connection on my main fan, which we fixed both fans were spinning very fast as temp was over 100c... :35:), When Aircon is on Both fans will spin. So now my mind is at rest as the fans are now working to correct temp, even though the Gauge reads high temps. I love the ECU reading machine, it told me im running lean from the 02 sensor. Looks like that will fail my MOT in december lol.

Car just wouldnt start this afternoonm, turned over fine. Checked fuses and all fine, Rac did a fault code check ad got 16. He played about with the fuses behind ecu and the relay for fuel pump kicked in with a buzz and car started fine. ive heard theses relays tend to burn out?? is it worth having the fuse/relay unit taken apart to see if their is any relay damage? Car idling from cold is still not smooth.

Stalling When Warm
Stevoo replied to muppetofdoom's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Could be idle control valve!, normally the cold start vale keeps car idling when cold and switches off when car is warm. -
Ouch! 2 Doors And A Rear Wing In 1 Hit

30 years driving and only 5 years NCB?? I would of expected much more lol. You can protect 5+ years so a claim wont affect your 5 year NCB. -
UPDATE!! Took car to local garage, journy their was fine no noises at all!! garage couldnt find any faults in engine bay that would make the noise, they only suggest an Auto speciallist has a look at it. So im kinda baffalled! what is this noise? why only now and then and in certian gear? Anyone reccomend the oil change in box will help it??
-
Today i had a full car no bags. Whenever the auto changes from 1st into 2nd i get a clonk clonk noise for a few seconds them goes away. Sounds like drive shaft but strange why it only makes noise when changing into 2nd. If im in 3rd and do kick down into second it makes no noises. They noise was comming from the N/S but changed to the O/S. i cant see any leaks from box/shafts. Could it be my second gear on way out? or box is low on oil/pressure? I did notice when reversing car on the drive which has a slight incline, the same sort of noise comes when pressing the gas, but the noise is like one clunk and thats it. Any ideas ppl? Car is a 1997 R 2.3 auto ghia X 86k Thanks

2.3 Overheating On Idle Part Ii
Stevoo replied to jimjamjo's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I have a 2.3 as well and get same sort of problem. in traffic on warm day with no aircon on guage goes to m and the fans do kick in but doesnt seem to bring temp right back down. if i switch aircon on both fans spin and brings temp back down. I think it maybe my thermostate and/or temp switch. I will change thermostate and see how mine goes. what mileage is yours on? mines 82k and will prob need new water pump soon anyway. -

Had a weird experience today. Everytime i went from either Park or Neutral to Drive and came off the brake pedal the car jerk forward a bit hard, as if you bring clutch up to quick. Into journey i stoped stationary then pulled off, car reved to 4k and didnt change gear i slowed down and pullled off again got upto 5k and still stayed in 1st gear. I pulled over and put it into park, cut engine off, restarted car and drove off and was changing gear all day fine. Now is this a sign of a major problem? or does autobox need oil added/changed?? Thanks

Box Under The Seat
Stevoo replied to mutleybrookes's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
ok box under pass seat is where your ecu sits, once u get new keys programed your remote locking/alarm should work with the buttons on your new black key, or in some cases ford may need to program the new key into the system. Either way take your red key and car to main dealer. -
I think they may mean the water system when they said "engine flush", but i maybe wrong. Brake fluid should be change every 2/3 years as it can get contaminated and turn into slug and cause more problems.

Galaxy Shaking When Braking
Stevoo replied to ninjakev's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I had this prob on a non galaxy, i changed disc and didnt fix it, change ball joint as was losse that didnt fix it. found out it was a slightly warp alloy which caused it..... so pop down to a garage and get them to check your frontend out. -
ZX1 Lube grease is very good, works with engine oil for a better lube. Ive used it in all my cars even my current 17 year old nissan pulsar gti-r lol..

Box Under The Seat
Stevoo replied to mutleybrookes's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
As mentioned box under passanger seat is for ecu, mine is a 1997 but has ecu in dashboard next to fuses box. if u have a horizontal and vertical row of fuses then the box under passanger seat should be empty for storage. They moved ecu as the drain pipes from sun roof blocked up and water came in the storage box under passanger seat and killed ecu. -
No ideas anyone? :P
