  1. Not to sure, maybe use the search function or google lol.
  2. Agreed be cheaper to sell your gal and buy a diesel. petrol engines are Ford, Diesel engines are VW.
  3. When you take the head off, id reccomend getting it pressure tested for any crack. When your car losses power does the Engine management light flash?(yellow symbol in speedo unit) You can do what we call a "Bore Wash" Take the spark plugs out of 3 & 4 hole, and put a small amount of oil down the plug hole, bout 2 teaspoons full. Then re fit spark plugs and un plug lead no.5 to coil pack then crank engine over. Re fit and see if that temporaily fixes the problem. This did on my mums fiesta for a while but the head gasket did need replacing in the end.
  4. Its defo from engine thats for sure you hear it more on the driver side. I have car booked in on thursday so they can take the belt side of engine apart and replace aux belts and inspect cam chain/tensioner and water pump while they are their. Will post update on friday with the deep hole in my pocket lol.
  5. Mines a 2.3 petrol as well, cam chain isnt an engine out job. theirs not great access but can be done like any other fwd engine. Is your rattle all the time? or only when engine is under load?
  6. How nice 50 views and no replies. :)
  7. Evening all, Just come back from an 2.5hr round trip. The gal was fully loaded. When i was say going up a slight incline or in 4th gear on a 60 limit, I kept getting was sounds like a rattle sound from engine bay. it did sound like a chain type noise. My car has done 88k and a full service history with oil being changed yearly. I dont think its my cam chain as i rev car stationary and no noise. I floored it from the lights so car revved each gear hard and no noise. I just get it when engine is under load. My fan belt does scream now and then as the belt and tensioner need replacing but ive been putting tulcan powder on to shut it up while ill wait till after xmas to replace it. Could this make a rattle type noise if bearing in tensioner is naff?? Im not driving car anymore incase its the chain.. any ideas? or prices for a new chain cam kit? Thanks inadvance.
  8. you get more in summer, ice cold pipes and warm air means.............. Condensation
  9. I use H4 as well in me mk 1 80w/100w, had them for over a year. no issue's with electrics at all. passed MOT with them in as well. I went for the bright blue lights to help me on the country roads at night. if you have fog lights im sure you can upgraded them to "bright white" ones. has anyone else done this? been getting loads of fog round my way lately.
  10. Hi mate, I had this same problem, it was the relay for the fuel pump. I replaced it and has been fine since. its a job u can do your self. bout 5 mins to remove and fit a new one.
  11. as far as im aware, only petrol engines have water heaters in back. and all diesel have a diesel heaters. never seen one or look at mine as it always works. sorry.
  12. Do you mean no air blows at all? When you switch aircon on, you should here a "click" noise which engages the Pump. Within 20 seconds you should feel cool air, as long as you have set temp to "low" if no cold air at all, then you may need a re-gas. Check if aircon fan is spinning on the rad.
  13. Should be near the throtle cable unit on the inlet manifold. I havent bothered to replace mine as car is due for MOT next month will get them to do it then.
  14. i have same problem in 2.3 auto, same point everyday. I think its idle control valve
  15. who knows lol, mot due in december will see if anythink comes up then.
  16. mine works when i set temp to "HI", but mind you mine's a heater matrix and fan jobbie in the back, not an oil burning generator
  17. defo not fuel noise i do hear that now and then. does same noise when i use manual shift. it does sound like engine or exhaust hitting body work of car as everyone can hear and feel it in the car. Damn theses fix or repair daily motors:P
  18. Thats what it sounds like a "Thud" lol When cruising along the road and i need to put me foot down so i can over take or go up a hill. I put me foot flat to the floor and normally car goes in 2nd or 3rd depending on the speed. But everytime i do "kick down" i get a thud noise. not to sure if its my exhaust or possible gearbox/engine mount is loose/worn? if i nail it from standing still the car changes gear fine with no thud its only on the down shift mainly into 2nd gear. Any ideas?
  19. Oooooooh more reply's lol. Had alternator checked today by an auto electrican he did the old fashion screw driver test, and their was no grinding noise. Been told to change belt again and replace the tensioner and idle pulley as thats a lot cheaper then alternator. Will get this done in the week and update yer with results.
  20. HAHA yer i replaced it in july this year when it was serviced as it started to slip. But hasnt made a noise since this week :P
  21. half pint did that really work? i thought the tensioner pulley was their to adjust tension when aircon is on?!?!? Sounds like a cheap fix if it is my tensioner thats failed. What has is the common part to replace? just wondering from you guys and gals what part you have replaced.
  22. Doesnt the pulley come with a new alt? or can u get one seperately? whats annoying is my alt is working fine. seems a pain to replace it with a new one to stop an annoying noise lol
  23. Evening all, Been reading some old post about the Dreaded Aux belt scream..... I now have this as well, Just been to my local garage and they said its either the Tensioner or Alternator bearing. They had two gal in the last month both having same prob as me, and one was tensioner other was alternator. Anyone have an idea which one it could be?? lol, On idle theirs no noise, soon as im moving the screaming noise increases with engine revs. When i come off gas the noise goes away as revs drop. Ive sprayed WD40 on the small pulley next to the crank one, and the noise stops for a few seconds and comes back after driving... I even went in a big puddle and that stopped the noise, again for a few seconds lol Ive been quoted
  24. 2.3 are a bit funny when hot. get a local mechanic to plug a ecu reader into your ecu to get the air temp on intake. my uncle did this for me and the air was 56c on a summers day. so the hotter the air comming in or temp sensor not working car wont perform when its cold.
  25. When I changed mine, I got a Green Bulb from Halfords. I twisted my old bulb side to side and pulled it out. So the to wires left in the plastic holder were sticking up. I then postioned the wires off the new green bulb and lined them up with wires In the plastic holder. I pushed the bulb In firmly with the Ignition on. Once light came on I put some sealant glue to hold bulb in place. Year on and still working lol iirc i got a 4watt bulb which is much brighter.
