  1. Okay,,,,.,., Good news and Bad news.....,.,.,. Good news is; They are in and the car is working great.... No loss of power sounds like normal.......,., Bad news is; They are not genuine ford parts...,.,. They come in a moulded plastic unit, and are exactly the same in every single way as the ones I took out apart from there is no writing on the top of them to identify them.... Now is this a bad thing.,., Does anyone have any exeperience of parts like these...And is it worth getting 2 for 60 quid when a genuine one would of cost 80 quid (and that is for just one!!!!)..,.,., Any thoughts anyone...,.,.
  2. Not here yet. I am at the front door waiting to punce like a cat when the courier comes down the drive..... Will update, when the job is done.....
  3. Ah well..,.,.,. I have ordered these and I just hope that it is the right thng..... Dam Galaxy.. Not a month go's by that something does not need doing on it.....
  4. If i order these before 6.30 they will be here tomorrow..... Can anyone tell me if they are the correct thing i am looking for........ See above post for info,........,.,.,.
  5. I have pinpointed it to the Coil Pack... These are the 2 black boxes that sit on top above the spark plugs... I swapped them round and unplugged HT leads...... COIL PACK 1 - PLUGS 2 & 3 COIL PACK 2 - PLUGS 1 & 4 I unplugged the HT leads from coil pack 1 and there was no change, I then unplugged the HT leads from Coil pack 2 and the engine seemed to dim. I swapped the coil packs around and it was the other 2 plugs that dimmed the engine. So am guessing one of the packs has gone... 2 questions 1) Is this the coil pack http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/012-IGNITION-COIL-Fo...VQQcmdZViewItem 2) Would I of damaged the engine by unplugging these things? BTW is it worth replacing the 2 at the same time? Are they one goes then the other goes not long after.. Please Help... I am a desparate man... My wife and kids want to get out... Or is it I want to get them out.... LOL
  6. My Gal seems to be running on 3 cylinders. I have changed the spark plugs as per the beginners guide (Ecellent work BTW), and this never cured the problem. The HT leads seemed to be a bit crusty, hard and my mate said I would change them as well. So I am getting them done tomorrow. The lead labelled C in this picture seems to be very britlle, and I would like to know what it is, and where does it go? Is it easy to change? http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...ost&id=2015 Is there any way to test which plug is not firing, and trace the problem back from there..... There was a smell of petrol when I had left the car running for about 5 minutes, could this be to do with the fuel not being burnt in the chamber? Also it was a bit smokey... Any help guys and gals is appreciated...... Ps. I am off work tomorrow and going to change the HT leads... Is it worth doing or should I hang on till I have tested out....
  7. I am absolutely skint and the Gal seems to be a bit running a bit bad.,.,. it seems to be running on 3 cylinders...(allegedly)....So I am going to change the plugs myself tomorrow, and I am a bit worried as I have never done this before. Looks a great set of instructions though, so hopefully won't go too far wrong....Just a couple of questions How do you measure the gap on the plug,.,., Can I buy it preset? ---- I have limited tools.. What are the main things to look out for when doing this?
  8. Haha.. Thanks.... I checked for anything lodged in there.... It has been okay for the moment, but when the noise starts, I am getting some really weird looks off people. It sounds like it is about to go bigtime when it starts... Thanks for all the help...... Will keep WD40'ing the rad, until i get brave enougn to do the job...... Or it goes kaput.. many thanks,
  9. Can they be changed easily??
  10. So i guess no one else has had this problem.....And no help available
  11. The noise only happens when the fan is running, so I assume its that. When the engine is running, there is no noise, it only comes about when the fan kicks in... Does the fan run off the drive belt.... BTW I sprayed it with WD40 this morning and the noise has gone...... Cant leave it like that though.. Would hate for something to go when the wife and kids are out in the car..
  12. Hello All, Has anyone ever had a noisy (really noisy) fan motor by the radiator. The noise comes and go's, obviously when its running the noise is like a loud rubbing squeeky type noise. Any ideas? Is it hard to change? How competent do you have to be to change it? Where is the best place to get one from? Look forward to your help and replies..
  13. Right,,,,, Been out in it just now.. Started fine, Air con working fine. All seemed fine. If it was the sticky bendix, why would it start with a jump start? There was almost nothing in the battery after my 7 mile journey, becasue the radio lost its settings. There was a difinitite squeak after the jump start, at idle it was worse, then when we would get going, it would settle down. Hmmm........ What to do... Any ideas? And I didn't know cars didnt have fan belts no more. LOL
  14. Hello Guys and Gals, I started up my Galaxy today, and the dam thing gave a squeak, I thought nothing of it because it had stopped almost as soon as it started. When I got to the shops, about 7 miles away, and tried to restart my car It wouldn't start. I thought it was the battery, with it being cold and all. Got a jump start and the squeak was well loud. Fella immediately said with confidence. Fan belt that mate, go home and get it sorted. Now I thought the fan belt did the power steering and air con, but the power steering was okay but the air con wasn't working properly. Are there 2 belts, the fan belt and the aux belt? Where are they located? Can it be tightened up or is it just as easy to put a new one on? Can a novice pull this off, or would it be easier to drop it into a garage? All help appreciated. Many thanks. Jim
  15. I would go for the good old WD40. Worked a treat on mine.
  16. This is a great trick I remember from my Motorboke days.....
  17. Aquaplaning is caused (as previously stated) by excessive water under the tyres of the car. Which basically means your car is floating. Its the same as ice. You should take your foot off the accelarator and keep the steering wheel straight, then when the water under the car is dispersed and you regain control you will continue in the direction you were travelling. If you start to drift in a particular direction whilst aquaplaning you still wait until control is regained then you turn into the spin and hope for the best.. Its easy in theory, but, I have spent many a time slipping and sliding cars about on purpose and I think if it happened to me while singing along on a road, I am not sure I could follow them rules in an instant second.... Best thing is slow right down
  18. Thanks to all the regular users for this forum, which in turn allowed me to save enough money fixing the galaxy we love to give the kids presents, and leave enough money for me to take the wfe out on new years eve!!
  19. Were would you get the software to use with the lead. Is the software easy to use, and wht sort of things is it good for?
  20. I like that 'The carrier of kings' ---- Too much though went into that.. can you imagine the boardroom talk about that one.. As far as I can guess all of Seats cars are named after regions/cities of spain. Ibiza, Toledo, Alhambra, Leon. I am sure if this is wrong I till get told soon rather than later.... lol
  21. Hello Sue, This site really is the best place for information about your galaxy but before they can, they will need to know about your car. It helps if you put the year and model of your car in your signature, then they will be able to help you. Also have you looked at the FAQ's there is so muxh info in there to help.
  22. Sorry for not getting back... Had a good look and listen, a drive round he car par. It does seem to be the pump overworking. When I have near full lock on and just start to move thats when it happens or not moving and I am turning the wheel close to full lock it happens. Apart from that my mate got in the car the other day who knows less about cars than I do, and I said to him 'what do you reckon the noise is' he said straight off, 'Oh thats your power steering thingy, once you move or give it some gas it will go.' He gets his cousin out who is an apprentice VW machanic and he agrees. So hopefully that will be that with it. Just as long as I dont overwork the baby, it should , woops dont wanna say that. Tempting fate and whatever...
  23. If its just sticking try WD40 on it, this happened to mine. May save you a stiff neck
  24. My CC flashes for about 5 seconds when been switched on. I thought this was normal? Please tell me this is normal.... It seems to work fine though.
  25. I dont know wether its the way I drive the car but when changing up the gears or down. when the revs are low it gives a judder. The revs are not too low as to casue a judder, but it judders in 2nd and 3rd. It only happens when the accelerator is on the floor. When you lift the pedal and slowly depress it iagain t goes okay. Like its letting too much fuel through and it cant cope. Is this normal?
