Coolant Warning
norwichbluenose replied to norwichbluenose's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Okay, here is an update. My fans are fine both work, ( an easy test for this if you have air con switch it on the fans should go on automatic when low is selected on the air con). The coolant level is fine and running through the system okay. next job is to test the sensors as one of them could be us. -
Okay I think I know what the problem is, but I could be wrong. When I have been driving for a bit and then stop, at traffic lights or road works for example, a warning light comes on saying check coolant level quickly followed by STOP immediately. Upon checking the coolant level it is fine and not boiling, my temp gauge does not move it stays on 90 degrees. Now I think the problem is my electric fan has packed up, because when I restart the car and start moving no problems and the problem only happens when stationary. My thinking is when the engine is idling there is no cool air going through the rad to cool the coolant down, therefore the temp rises a little bit, my fan doesn't kick in, the engine management senses a problem and thinks its over heating. I have checked the fuse for the fan and its fine, does any one know how to check if the fan is working or not, or any other possible causes. Andy B

Not What I Expected
norwichbluenose replied to IceBoy's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Sorry I have to agree with Mum of 4 on this one, I regularly get between 50 and 55 mpg from my gal. it depends how heavy footed you are, you to build up speed slowly and stay between 58 an 65 mph. also if you change the computer to real time mpg you can see exactly what your mpg is and adjust your driving accordingly. Going To France,,,,,,
norwichbluenose replied to bigdaddy's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
I have never had any trouble with French Drivers they are usaully very good on Motorways. If they are overtaking they leave the indicators on until the move is finished (sometimes they overtake 5/6 cars at once with the indicators on). Be careful in small towns as they have some different rules at junctions and roundabouts. be careful when coming up to Paris lots of police and speed cameras (you get done and they can now send the fine to you in Britain and take you through the courts as well) -
Happy Birthday, Marion. remember you never old just wiser

Idle seems to be ok, maybe drops off but returns to normal rev's! Then again, something else to check  I had a similar problem on my old v6 gal. i took it down to busseys and had the ht leads check out apparently one was breaking down causing the stutter. replaced the lot redexed it and it cured the problem. Search Button And Its Use

Ok I have changed my headlight bulbs, the difference is amazing. i can now see further than 10 yards in front . Changing was a little bit of a pig but on on a scale of 1 to 10, I would say it was about 3, once i had made up an extension to reach the bottom screw on each headlight. Andy B -

The main problem is some of the topics wander off the subject a bit, also i find that you sometimes remember seeing a particular post and forget were, (it took me ages to out about the new pollen filter but I knew it was there somewhere). Andy B -
