  1. there is only one plug, a big red one! there is no other cable and no other socket on the cluster.
  2. if you can get hold of a multimeter check battery output with engine off, should 12-13v. with engine running should be 14+volts, turn on all lights and electrical equipment and check voltage should still be 14+volts, if it drops below 12 then the alternator's at fault, if it goes over 15v then regulator's the problem but you would probably have to change the alternator. hope this helps
  3. how far do you drive to the test station? the hotter a cat is the better it works, a good thrashing on the way helps, a fuel treatment tends to help but failing all this a new cat is on the cards. the ecu brings emissions down to a point and the cat cleans the rest if the cat element gets saturated it stops working.
