  1. I`m not sure they do......I just thought they should be blocked off in case
  2. Cheers I have just re-covered the holes in the top of the inner wing with some thin aluminium sheet and high grade silicone to stop any water breaking through here I also made a small "deflector" to stop any water flowing straight onto the pollen filter Will get a picture soon
  3. Hi Have read all the posts about the wet footwells. Mine turned out to be blocked drain channels as the drivers side had approximately 1.5 litres of water sitting in the void space below the scuttle panel! Just putting my hand into the area (after moving the wipers to a mid screen position) allowed the water to freely flow out. I then used the curtain wire in the other side which produced a smaller quantity......but bear in mind about 1 litre poured into the footwell yesterday while we were travelling and it was raining. So all being well we should be OK (thanks to the advice from here) However I have noticed two holes which I remember seeing a post about but don`t know the answer. On the drivers side some aluminium tape was placed over the large hole BUT IT DIDNT BLOCK THE HOLE OFF! On the passenger side a wire holder was in the hole. Do both holes lead trhough to OUTSIDE the car, or do they end up under the dashboard somewhere? I`m tempted to block both up properly in any case but really would like to know? This should show where they are:
  4. Thanks for those......could I suggest that on a right hand drive car they may be the other way round?
  5. Hi I may be fitting a modulator type cd changer to my galaxy (Don`t ask...long story....I already own one, and I want to keep the orginal stereo....I can`t find a Ford changer to fit......etc) Can anyone tell me if there will be a problem with the "powered aerial" in the car...ie I read that the window aerial was powered from the ford stereo. If this is the case, how have people got around this when they have fitted an aftermarket radio? Does it still work?
  6. Looks like it too! Can anyone point me in the right direction for removing the amp? This is the first time I have had to remove things in a galaxy........Mondeo no problem as mine has been apart so many times for upgrades...LOL OK. The amp is out.....a power transistor has blown (quite literally apart!!) I`m now faced with a dilema what to do. I like original equipment, so was going down the route of getting a changer for this setup....and obviously replace the power amp. Or I have a modulator type cd changer that works fine.....not ideal but Ok. Will post a quick question about the power output for the aerial working with a modulator cd...i`m thinking that if the radio provides the power for the aerial to work, it may cause problems? Will do a bit of digging for some information with regard to the bypass leads etc.

  8. Hi I wouldn`t mind seeing a photo please? I am looking for some information on th drain hole location, before I remove the scuttle panel, etc Thanks keith9534@ntlworld.com
  9. Is the fuse for the amp in with the other ones (right hand under the dash?) Is it a combined fuse for the amp & radio? If so I would guess it isn`t taht as the radio works. I will have a look when I get home :)
  10. Will check......not silly as it was late at night so I just presumed they were there....!
  11. Sorry to reply to my own thread. Have found the amplifier. Its plugged into the grey multiwire connector and has another plug going into it. Does it sound as if anything is missing?
  12. Hi Just got my Galaxy (1996 Ghia 6 seater) The seller had taken out his JVC stereo and has given me the original stereo (which I quite like) Found the code number, plugged in the three connections and the aerial lead.....all lights up and tunes in Ok, but there is no sound? Having read a few posts on here it appears there is an amplifier fitted somewhere? I don`t believe the previous owner would have fitted the radio himself, so I`m guessing he used an autolead to make it work, but could it be something to do with the amplifier setup? If he cut the wires where is the easiest place to trace them back to......except to the speakers??? Any help would be greatly appreciated TIA
