But is the wedge space left after fitting a changer there for something specific?
-
Is there any particular use for the extra space in the box where the cd changer is fitted? Is it that wedge shape for a reason or does something fit there?

Sorry to dig up an old thread.......how can you tell what remote locking system a car has? I know my car has it as the black box under the seat shows remote locking on it Has anyone got any information? Either that or a picture showing the differences on the keys? Or even what words to look for? -
To Little Niggles, And Ideas?

If it was me i would be very carefull touching any wiring connected to the airbag system!!!! On a Mondeo its recommended to disconnect the battery and leave the car fro 15 minutes minimum as there is enough residual current to set them off just be disconnecting the connectors under the seat. I have seen a video of a guy knocked out cold when one went off (he wasn`t sitting in the seat though!) Perhaps the VW system is different? -

My Dads car is about 4 months off the cut off date..........he pays full rate while the "newer" version (ie no different just slightly newer pays the lower emmision rate) We always thought this was a way to tax the people that couldn`t afford newer cars? Thats about 85% of the country as I see it?

Original amp had a blown Ic (Tda 7253) Will check the speaker wiring...seems strange how its both sides of one set though? The amp has four seperate channels so it could be that each pair uses one channel.

Got a "new" amplifier for my Mk1 as I couldn`t get any sound from the radio.......fitted a changer unit But I can`t get any sound from the middle set of speakers? Is there any common fault in this area? I really don`t want to start pulling everything out unless I have too.........anyone?

You only get pulled into the train if you break down on the platform

Audio Options Mk1 Galaxy
keith9534 replied to keith9534's topic in I.C.E (In Car Entertainment) Discussion
I see......I`m guessing that nobody actually makes a.5 din plate for this purpose? Putting two single din units in sounds like the original setup for this car. The only reason I ask is that I already have I 6006 and 6000 CD player to use if I can get it right. Otherwise its over to the orginal radio (once I have the amplifier fixed with a TDA 7253 Ic) and the addition of a DVD in dash player. The only problem is that I can`t see any "autolead" that I can use to add the DVD audio into the radio system . With a 6000 I have a soundlinx adaptor to add 3 audio sources in -

Sorry I don`t understand? Can a 1.5 Din radio from a MK2 Mondeo be fitted into the dash of a MK1 (double din) dashboard? -

They can? Does it require any cutting of the stuff thats there already? Don`t have a problem with the wiring side of things.....but does the physical plastic that is in place need altering? Has anyone got a post about doing it? -

I think I found a changer lead in mine tucked away, so just need a changer unit if anyone has one? Has anyone put a newer style Ford 6000 unit into a MK1? Over on MEG people are forever making bits to fit the wrong bits into cars (not sure its a Galaxy type of thing to do though?) -

That may be because yours is later than ours. Just spotted the "signature" bit......thought I had done it but it appears that I did the profile bit only :D -
Not The Usual Wet Footwell Question?

I haven't seen these holes in our galaxy, but haven't really looked that hard before. Will have a look at our tonight........ I suspect that they should be blanked off!!!! Have you tried putting the curtain wire down them and see where the wire emerges. You might have to remove or loosen the wheelarch liner to see if they come out there??? Or they might go into the dash somewhere??? Let us know what you find??? Sorry I can't really help on this one....... J. Hi I think there should be some "metal tape" over them which is painted body coloured...thats why you don`t notice them I guess? Tried the curtain wire but didn`t see it exit anywhere......I highly suspect that it comes out insdie the car....so the one with the wire holder in (small hole) is suspect for letting water in as its just a friction type fit in the hole!!!! Cheers -

Audio Options Mk1 Galaxy

Thanks......don`t think 5000 double din radios will fit in a MK1 though? I had a 6006 in my mondeo but sold it as I heard so many horror stories about them going wrong. -
Hi can anyone explain what "should" be in a Mk1 Galaxy with regard to audio options I have a 2007 radio. Looking around I have found: A 10 disc changer unit with a seperate control box (not sure how it connects to exisiting radio though?) A six disc changer to fit to a 2007 radio (again...not sure how it fits in with a 2007.......maybe the lead is already in place?) Anyone help?

In essence yes. It doesn`t exactly "broadcast" Fm as that would be illegal under the wireless telegraphy act......it just goes inline with your aerial lead and "adds" the CD sound via a frequency.....usually 97.3 or so.....without power you will receive normal radio stations....power the CD/Modulator and it adds in!
