Picked up two new inner door handles for left and right fronts , usual peeling off plastic suprised to find out the price less than a

Talking to a friend today and mentioned my aircon was shot .He told me of a local guy who was pretty good on the old aircon scene so before i ordered a new compressor i thought give him a call for a second opinion anyway after a chat he had a look and asked if the previous aircon bods had put any oil in the system first? no idea i said so he asked if i would mind if he put some in and regassed it, feel free !!Guess what "WORKING FINE COLD AND QUIET" lol kicking in and out as it should , no screaming noises from engine bay no burning rubber smells and vibrations through pedel :rolleyes: thats a few more pounds in my pocket well for now anyway ,fingers crossed

Cc pump removed and emptied of water again , opened the lid from the top and full of rusty water , removed the cylinder type cover from the bottom surrounding the motor/pump thingy looked like a lump of rust nothing more ,anyway i noticed it was rusted solid ie wouldn't go up/down or rotate so with a small pin hammer and a can of WD40 and pliers managed to get it rotating ,still felt like it was full of rust but it did finally rotate after some persuasion .The whole lot is rusted to hell and back but i thought buying a new one tomorrow what have i to loose it ! aint never going to work again WRONG !!! works fine WTF :rolleyes: Oh well saved myself

Is there a way of testing this cc control pump behind the nearside indicator mine was full of water , i would like to test before i go and buy new but have no idea how or if it can be tested , if i have to buy a new one can anyone give me an idea of part no and price????? :unsure: thanks all mike Truly the most unreliable car i have ever owned but i still want to keep it lol

At last onboard computer now working again as it should , removed clocks couldn't find a thing wrong , put clocks back and all is well ??????? :unsure: thanks for the tips on removal mike.....

Buzzing stereo issue now sorted with a nice new pair of pioneer speakers , work a treat can now listen in stereo again lol. thanks for help mike :unsure:

Can anyone recommend some decent speaker replacements / reasonable cost for the front doors mk2 2001 gal ? have seen some sony explod on here somewhere but i can't find the post lol.A part number would be great so i can nip down to halfods am tomorrow looks an easy peasy job thanks for help mike... working through my list of faults........ :(

Can anyone tell me if vagcom can be used on a 2001 galaxy , basically i am trying to locate an aircon fault after regassing i have a loud screaching noise when compressor kicks in and still no air con , the gas can be seen escaping from rear of engine bay somewhere ? if i drive car and then select the aircon this screaching noise is accompanied by a burning smell like a belt that maybe sliping also the load on the engine seems a little excessive and can be felt through the pedal .If the gas is removed altogether then this noise dissapears together with the burning smell .I'm thinking compressor and expensive however i have access to vagcom and was wondering if it would be of any use .Don't even know where to plug it in lol.

As my onboard computer has a life of its own ie sometimes its on and other times its off i would like to inspect the wiring /Cct board etc , what rules???????

When people mention cc pump are we talking about the canister type looking thingy behind the nearside indicator this is the one were the pipe that goes to it normally splits ? i notice that some people mention changing this due to being full off water if this is the one then can anyone tell me how much they are to buy and a possible part number .I repaired the common split pipe and noticed the cannister was full of water , emptied but still no cruise so was wondering if it was worth chancing it and replacing it....

:rolleyes: Bloody galaxy (2001 2.3ghia dohc) not much else that can go wrong with this one the only good thing is that the engine is sweet , slow but sweet! anyway am i unlucky or what ? firstly my onboard computer packs in , then my cruise control packs in , then my passenger side speakers start playing up buzziing like a goodun after playing for about 5 mins , now my air con has gone , had it regassed today well down on gas but never any noises anyway after regassing it i have now got a terribble noise coming from engine bay when the compressor kicks in which can only be described like a sticking starter motor and now the cotrols flash on start up, oh yes my computer decided it would be fun to come back on tonight after several months of nothing only now its stuck on ,wont switch between functions using stalk controls just displays temp and get this even stays on after i lock the car i mean 24/7 dont think i,ll be buying a ford again lol had enough!!!!!

Hi people, i need some disks and pads for my galaxy pretty soon but was wondering could i order them from GSF i know its not a VW but they are basically the same are they not ? should imagine the brake setup would be the same unless anyone knows different.I would also recommend the Pagid pads used these many times with no problems at all. thanks mike......

Hi all and thanks for the many replies , basically what i,m looking for is a towbar that meets the following criteria :- 1, reasonable price and will take the hollywood 4 bike rack this is the verticle type that i believe has a base plate in between the ball and bar and will allow a van to be towed at the same time. 2, don't care if its removable or not . 3, don't care if its swan neck or standard providing it can do the above,swan neck ? I dont have a van or the verticle rack yet but do have a standard hollywood 4 bike rack that fits to the tail gate , this is held in place by a series of straps etc.You mention putting this type of rack on the van instead , i have never thought about this to be honest,is this possible?.Also in the past i have only had witter bars is there any real difference in quality or more importantly the safety aspect between these and less expensive bars like towsure etc as the towbar price varies so much for a galaxy , last but not least are they an easy diy install for one person , fitter by trade but carrying an injury so just wandering if i should try it ? thanks in advance... :angry:

So am i correct in thinking my air con on my 2001 2.3 gal should be icey cold not just cool and a regass would/should be the first port of call???????? To be honest its about as cool as an open window in summer
