Here's a little idea I had and implemented whilst searching for the reason my parking sensors were not working - thought I'd share it by way of "Giving back" After finding my rear-wash pipe joint was undone in the passenger footwell, though the area was only slightly damp, I removed the parking sensor controller from under the passenger seat to swap it for a known working one. When I replaced it, I put a couple of 14mm nuts under the controller, before bolting it back to the vehicle's floor. This has raised the electrics off the floor by about an inch (2.54 cm for the kids out there), thus delaying the fizz-buzz of shorting electrics, should my rear washer's pipe come adrift again of the scuttle drains block up. I can "Comfortably" drive around with plenty of water sloshing around now :D . Can't see any reason this little mod would cause a problem with anything but if anyone knows different, please PM me very quickly! :o

Parking Sensor Switch Flashing - Help Please
Fraz-ktf replied to Fraz-ktf's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
JOB DONE B) Thanks everyone for your assist. It seems like I had 2 faulty sensors. Replaced them with known working ones and all is sweet. Found the distance checker in VAG-COM and the 2 dodgey sensors were giving lower and constantly varying readings, where as the working ones all said 225cm. Now to sort out the driver's side wiper that doesn't sweep far enough . . . . -
Hi. In the interest of "Giving back", I thought I'd write up my personal experience of removing both Front & Rear Parking Sensors from a Galaxy MK11- Don't know if this warrants being "Sticky" and I'm probably being over presumptuous for a newbie but here goes . . . . FRONT: 1. Using a flat blade screwdriver, carefully insert it between the black plastic bumper trim and the bumper, at the furthest edge from the number plate (Round the wing's side, near the wheel arch) - I put a piece of cloth between the screwdriver and the painted bumper, for protection. 2. Next, lever the screwdriver back towards your wheel (Holding the screwdriver parallel to the ground) and it will start to release the black trim. 3. With the black trim starting to come away, insert your screwdriver further under the trim (To get more leverage and minimise any visible damage from the levering) and GENTLY lever the trim out some more, just until you can get to the first available Parking Sensor. 4. On the Bumper Trim, there are 2 x semi-flexible retaining lugs, placed top & bottom of the sensor. You need to VERY CAREFULLY prise these retaining lugs apart and push GENTLY, the sensor out of the Bumper Trim, towards the car. (BE VERY CAREFUL as the wires are very short from the sensors to the loom and you will cause damage if you're too hasty / rough) 5. Follow the Bumper Trim round, CAREFULLY levering it out until the next Parking Sensor is available to extract and do as above (point 4.) So, your bumper trim is now free of sensors and is lying on the floor, your Parking Sensors are dangling from your bumper. 6. To get the Parking Sensor out of it's plug and the loom, you need to GENTLY insert a small screwdriver at 90 Degrees to the plug, into the OBLONG hole at the end of the plug (NOT the Square hole!) and GENTLY lever it away from the parking Sensor (In the direction of the loom wires). This will release the little clip that holds the Parking Sensor into the plug. REAR: Exactly the same as the Front sensors, except you're lying on your back, getting crud in your eyes & mouth (And your tongue, which must be protruding to aid concentration :P ) Just follow steps 4. to 6. as above and delete the word "Trim". I really hope this is of some help to someone because in my 5 days of being a Galaxy owner, this Forum has been invaluable to me so far - thank you to everyone who has held my hand through virgin ownership issues. :15:

Parking Sensor Switch Flashing - Help Please
Fraz-ktf replied to Fraz-ktf's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hey, Silverbeast, I think my VAG-COM may be different to yours, I can't find the part that tests the sensor's sensitivity! I go into 76 Park Assist but the bottom left button gives 2 options, one left and one right. On both of these you can select a number by clicking Up or Down. Am I missing something? -
Parking Sensor Switch Flashing - Help Please
Fraz-ktf replied to Fraz-ktf's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I'm rapidly starting to believe that you are my own personal Galaxy-Guru, Silverbeast. :D B) I did your above suggestion and it flagged up 2 x intermittent sensors and one faulty (Despite it giving off the "Pulsing" sound and vibration. I will swap this out with my friend's working one and check further and obviously report back. Just gotta read up on how to remove them and if it's a bumper-off job for the front ones? -
Nope, I've read it but couldn't see the answer. I don't want to wipe or disable any keys as I have only 2 and I believe you need 2 keys to re-program. I didn't know if I could just swap over the blade section from my "Duff" remote and put it onto the "Button bit" from the other car and then do the reprogramming - would this work? or are you suggesting to try and re-program my own "Duff" key?

 HIJACK! Excuse my impertinence but if sishyplops isn't interested, I'm looking for a tow bar but I don't know much about which one to get and will it mess with the parking sensors (Presuming I ever get them to work!!!)? I understand that you have to remove the bumper and it's subframe bar, to replace it with the towbar's own subframe and this leaves the bumper "Floppy" on the car I saw with one fitted. I have a 2005 130 Ghia Galaxy so if your tow bar is looking for a loving home, please get in touch. What are the negs and plusses of removable V fixed, other than a supermarket parking aid with the fixie ;) thanks

Parking Sensor Switch Flashing - Help Please
Fraz-ktf replied to Fraz-ktf's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
That would be great but I can't find any mention of parking sensors, do you know which address it would be at or how to diagnose faults with them? I just know how to do an "Auto Scan" and then to manually select an address that has a fault and clear it and that's the extent of my VAG-COM knowledge. -
Hi. another thing I've got to do is to remove the seat pad and back from a set of front seats in a Galaxy 2005 MKll. One set is hardly used but doesn't swivel and the other set are badly worn but swivel. I want to make the swivel seats have the good upholstery but not sure how the recline winder comes off and other things I'll probably find. Can anyone help on this one please? Thanks again

Sorry about this lame question but what are the multi-pointed torx/star drive type fixings called that Ford have used on the Galaxy? To fix down the front seat running rails for example. My Torx kit is 6 point but these are probably about 12 point (Hard to count with bad eyes!) Thanks again you lot.

Well, this "Joining the Galaxy family" is proving frought with fun! My 2005 130 Tdi came with 2 x remote key fobs. Both will start the car just fine but only one will unlock it remotely. The "Duff" one has the red light that comes on when you press a button and I've swapped round the batteries, so I'm stumped as to the issue. A friend of mine has 3 x keys for his 2005 Galaxy and he said that if I can get one of his fobs to code to my car, I can have one (Woo, hoo, the luck just keeps rollin' in) Can a fob that's already coded to one car, be re-coded to another (Obviously, the blade part will be swapped too) and if so, do I have to "Wipe" the code first before re-coding? How would I go about all this, if it is indeed possible to do please? Thanks

Parking Sensor Switch Flashing - Help Please

Thanks again Mr Beast. I found the parking sensor controller where you said but all was bone dry under there. I have VAG-COM but it doesn't report a fault with the sensors. They are all ticking, though a couple are very weak. How would I check further if the unit is faulty? -
Hi. I'm getting the following VAG-COM Fault on my 2005/05 1.9 Tdi 130 Ghia but I don't know what the A/C Refrigerant Pressure Sensor (G65) looks like or where it is to be found in the car. Can anyone please advise or has anyone got a picture they could post? Is it an easy swap, if that is the final solution and how is it done please? Thanks ps. Here's the VAG-COM Fault report if anyone could clarify what it means: Chassis Type: 7M - VW Sharan Scan: 01,02,03,08,09,15,16,17,18,19,29,36,37,39,45,46,55,56 Address 01 ------------------------------------------------------- Controller: 038 906 019 NB Component: 1,9l R4 EDC G000SG 6249 Coding: 00002 Shop #: WSC 00020 1 Fault Found: 16916 - A/C Refrigerant Pressure Sensor (G65) Circuit Low Input P0532 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent Readiness: N/A

Parking Sensor Switch Flashing - Help Please
Fraz-ktf replied to Fraz-ktf's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Good idea Silverbeast, I'll try it and report back. Regarding the parking sensors, I've looked under the carpet in the passenger footwell, the rear wash-wipe pipe was off and it was just a little bit wet under there but I saw no sign of any wiring / sensor control box etc etc. where is that located? (2005 Galaxy Ghia 130) Thanks again -
Parking Sensor Switch Flashing - Help Please
Fraz-ktf replied to Fraz-ktf's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Thanks again. I've added my vehicle to my profile. I just checked for the schoolboy error (Driver's door safety switch) but it was off. When I operate the button on the dodgey door, there is a definite "click-click" and the interior light dims as the click is heard, showing that something electrical is making contact but as I say, the window operates just fine from the driver's door switch. I'm stuck! -
Parking Sensor Switch Flashing - Help Please
Fraz-ktf replied to Fraz-ktf's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Thanks chromedome, for your assist. I'll take a gander in the passenger's footwell. the window switch actually has a bit of plastic missing from it's top surface and I can see the tiny green bulb inside. It's deffo doing something as I can hear it inside the door. I'll have to work out how to remove the door panel. Thanks again -
I want to do exactly the same!

Hi. I just collected my first Galaxy after 2 nail-biting days of waiting and I've found 3 niggling faults. 1. The parking sensors are not working (They don't detect things). When you turn on the ignition, there is a bleep and the on/off button flashes it's light. I've checked all the sensors and they are all "Clicking and vibrating" although at seemingly different intensities, as I learned to check for on this forum but I'm stumped as to how to proceed. any help appreciated. 2. One of the rear door's electric window switch has a piece missing from the top of it (Broken) and when I press the switch to operate the window, I can hear something trying to work inside the door but the window won't move. If I try the switch on the driver's door for the rear window, it works just fine. Again, any suggestions please? 3. The DVD screens don't work. I'm lead to believe that they work intermittently but I'd like to have them working correctly, though I don't know where to start with diagnosis etc. thanks folks
