  1. Thanks Nik. I'll have a crack at it in a couple of days.
  2. Ahha, so the front panel comes off to reveal screws then?
  3. Due to the previous owner spilling something sticky down the centre console I need to know how to remove the climate control unit in order to strip the front cover off it so that I can clean round all the buttons as they are sticking. Does anyone know how it comes out?
  4. by that Ford Motor Factor in King's Lynn. He has one in my material, but still wants
  5. I've got loads for TT4, but don't know if they're the same?
  6. I need 1 or 2 too. Mine is a Mk2 with grey interior and a v pattern down the centre section. Any side(s) will do, cash waiting + I travel miles for work so collection should be no problem. http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2006-1/1136...eb-interior.jpg
  7. Well I've uploaded my SatNav pics to the thread http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?showtopic=7965, but it's good to know that a late Mk1 Focus shares the same seat materal as the Galaxy. I'll take a trip to some breakers in the near future to see if I can pick up some headrests.
  8. Spot on, the pair of you. I pushed the Navi speed pulse wire into the purple wire on the back of the stereo and drove round the block, it worked perfectly. The wire is now fitted properly through the back of the dash to what is marked as Pin-6 (AVC, the light purple one) of connector-C. Cheers guys, All sorted. DVD & 2 more screens next
  9. Thankfully I stuck a thick piece of plastic & double sided foam sticky strips under the DVD unit to stop any vibration, so hopefully that would have raised it a little, although it was bone dry in there to begin with. Funny thing is when I was laying the power cables along the sill I saw that my rear washer pipe had disconnected. I hadn't realised that it was common, so I just pushed it back in again, but if my rear washer stops working again then I'll glue the pipe back together next time.
  10. It's a 2002 '52 plate. I seem to remember seeing a purple wire on connector C of the radio, but I'll check properly later and see if it works the speed sensing wire for the SatNav.
  11. Not unless you know something that I don't. The only thing I can think of is interference to the side airbag and seatbelt controls, but there's a metal sheild that comes out to separate the loom from the explosive charge above the sill, that way I was able to run the DVD loom alongside the main Galaxy loom to the rear.
  12. They do a bleeped version of ozzy for the kids  I've got TomTom v4 on my Tornado SPV-C500 smartphone. Worked well, but I dug it out last week to go somewhere and couldn't get it find the BT GPS unit for some reason.
  13. Thanks John. So many posts and so many names to remember. Have you got any pics of yours. I thought about putting velcro at the bottom of the screen to stop it slipping back under braking, but pushed a screw up from the bottom of the compartment to sit the mounting thread of the screen on when it's open.
  14. NikpV: Cheers. I only had the one accessory socket, although before I went looking for a Galaxy I expected one either side of the boot as that's what my last Toyota Avensis Verso had. Katman: If you can't find a screen small enough then maybe a roof mounted or sunvisor screen would do?
  15. Hi again. Last question for this install, I promise. In order for me to finish off my aftermarket Sat Nav installation (see here http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...t=ST&f=4&t=7965) I need to fit the speed pulse wire to the back of the speedo. Does anyone know how it comes out?
  16. Here we are, pretty much finished now. Thanks to the guy who told me about the recess under the passengar seat BTW. The DVD navigation unit fixes prefectly to the floor there, with room to change the DVD to a newer map in the future. http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2006-1/1136064/aunderseat.JPG The n/s rear quarter panel has plenty of room for all of the extra gubbins that the Navi unit comes with (AV switch box etc). http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2006-1/1136064/btmc.JPG It's a ball ache to get the cables up to where the upper compartments live, but there's no other way for them to go. http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2006-1/1136064/cuppercompartment.JPG With the centre compartment upside down there's just enough room to get a rivet gun behind it, which is axactly how I mounted the hinges for the screen. http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2006-1/1136064/duppercompartment(upsidedown).JPG If you're wondering how the hinges fit to the screen BTW, then I removed the casing and rivited the hinges to the rear case first & then insulated them in the inside. http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2006-1/1136064/euppercompartment(rivited).JPG And here's the finished compartment prior to fitting back in the car. http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2006-1/1136064/fuppercompartment(finished).JPG Hey presto  http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2006-1/1136064/gscreenondash.JPG
  17. Best not cut the wire Ronnie
  18. Back again. Got pretty much most of the navigation system in now, just sorting out the hinge for the screen to live in the centre upper glove box before I dismantle the clocks to fit the speedo wire tomorrow. Unfortunately my Galaxy doesn't have the connector in the back of the radio for mute and audio input connections (if that's what they are for). I managed to connect the power cables inline with the stereo cables, but i'll need to trawl the scrap yards for late mondeos to see if they have the connector on behind the stereo for mute if I'm to fit it in mine.
  19. Or cut the illumination wire, pin 2 on the power connector :(
  20. I wouldn't go for the EcoTek either. Depending on your budget I'd go for a chipped ECU first, then a Decat pipe & maybe some head work (high lift cams & porting, although these may sacrifice some of the smoothness of the engine). I cheated with my Vectra though and fitted Nitrous injection. It gives the performance of a Turbocharger without the cost, although gas doesn't last forever at
  21. Hi again guys. After I've fitted SatNav this weekend I'm planning on fitting screens in the headrests. 1 in the centre seat and 2 in the back row. My first problem is that my headrests are hollow and will need to find some that are not. My second problem is that the screen destined for the centre seat doesn't have a headrest mounting kit and just has a flat back, so I've no idea about the best way of how to fit it.
  22. Brilliant. Thanks Dave. I notice that there are connections on the diagram for the stereo marked phone mute, phone audio 1 & phone audio 2 + NVA mute, NVA 1 & NVA 2. Do you think that these can be used independantly for mute control from both my bluetooth car kit and SatNav system + route the audio through the extra connections? Oh, and i'm guessing that the purple speed pulse wire goes to the back of the speedo?
  23. Hi guys. I'm going to fit an aftermarket SatNav system in my '52 plate Mk2 this weekend and need to know which wires behind the standard 6000 headunit are mute, permanent 12v, accessory (ignition) 12v and also the speed pulse wire if possble.
  24. You say it makes all the noises, which suggests that the motors are all working. This would mean that they are either not mechanically connected to the locks or that they are unlocking again.
  25. I'll not be changing it then as it's only done 23,200 miles
