  1. I had same problem, car started doing what it wanted to, opening windows and rear door not opening with central locking, as gregers recommends check all wiring inside rubber boots between doors and car body, they break/short n cause hell!
  2. Now I'm going back a few years, but after topping up, put a piece of cling film/polythene over hole then screw cap on, this should stop fluid leaking out while you manouver into place, remove on completion.
  3. Yes mate just pulls out.
  4. To be honest I never opened the box mate, just handed it over for them to fit.
  5. To be honest I never opened the box mate, just handed it over for them to fit.
  6. Also rear bush in wishbone has a tendency to split and part, allowing wishbone to whip up and down on bumps within fixing recess. You get a good rattle when that happens.
  7. I have a mk1 2.3 petrol, oil I believe should be 5w-30, but is that full synthetic or part, tried to find on forum with no luck.
  8. If it's not relay 30 check your wires/connections, I was down Eastbourne way when my gal was doing the same as yours, I didn't have a single spanner with me so had to call out the AA man, he found a connection that had gone rusty/loose, a quick tighten and I was away.
  9. Start with volt meter across battery, should be 12v, if so tighten all connections on battery, check earth connections and tightness of connections on starter. If in doubt call in AA LOL
  10. Hi, I bought a borg n beck 3 piece clutch kit, pressure plate, clutch plate and slave cylinder off Ebay for about
  11. Had the same happen to me a few months ago, Pedel went straight to deck, slave cylinder shot, situated in gearbox, best to buy complete kit inc slave cylinder.
  12. Hi, don't know if the more engine is any different to mine (mk1 2.3) cost mines done 234459 miles and still goes like s..t off a shovel. Cheap to run as she is also LPG. Clive
  13. The coil packs are pain, always going, got now to the stage of carrying a spare one, also plugs, ht leads under driving seat.
  14. Change roll restrictor bushes, they may look ok but go hard and you can get knocking, also check wishbone rear bush as they are prone to part alowing the wishbone to whip up n down again knocking.
  15. You can crank engine over but she won't start without pats chip in key. Wife dropped my keys and never told me, chip fell out, can no start, call out AA!!! Never felt such a fool, found chip, put back in key, start straight away, key now superglued.
  16. Do you have a sunroof?
  17. Which was why I stiffened mine up as per my earlier post, perfect now.
  18. I replaced all three engine mounts on my mk1 2.3 and still had snatching/engine movement so was not happy, I removed the bottom one and decided to put some small bolts through the holes in rear bush with a washer on each end tightened up to make rubber swell, that was two years ago and solved my problem.
  19. If power was intermitant to the fuse panel you would hear relays making and breaking, although crimps on leads that connect to battery may look ok inside may be a different case, I had a problem where I lost window wipers, it took a while to find but was found to be crimp on end of cable, a good squeeze with mole grips did a temp repair, later removed and did proper solder job.
  20. Garage got mine from fords
  21. Good luck, I was about to buy my third starter to stop that horrible destructive noise of teeth being mashed up, don't trash the starters you may find it's that relay.
  22. Either the relay or poor connection on battery terminals and leads to and from starter.
  23. Just had the relay/switch replaced in my 2.3 mk1, my car was in a garage having clutch done and my friendly mechanic (mate) informed me the thing was on way out, cost
  24. Have you tried Halfords? My very very small lamp went on my clock the other day and they had them in stock, complete with black holder (like a Dick I was trying to get lamp out of holder!)
  25. My boys did mine in for me, left them for ten mins and they were mucking about and one of them kicked the other in the head, his head hit screen and cracked it! I went nuts but they did me a favour as it hadn't worked for years, cost me
