  1. Make a pot of tea and do a search. Be prepared for a long night and a lot of reading.
  2. My Galaxy has three 12V front outlets and the only one that seems to charge a phone is the one that would have been the cigarette lighter. The other two, centre console and rear of centre console just seem to supply the minimal output. I think it's an amperage issue.
  3. It will more than likely be the resistor pack. I think it's located on the left hand side of the heater matrix. You will need to remove the glove box to get access to it.
  4. Don't forget to change the belt as well.
  5. The tensioner does move about a lit bit on tick over but not excessively. How do you know that your car does not have a DMF? Nearly all Galaxy's do and a clutch is fitted to the alternator to absorb some of the backwards movement through the system. If this clutch is failing this can also cause excessive movement on the tensioner. When I had my Galaxy the wrong size pulley had been fitted to the alternator effectively lengthening the belt enough for the idler on the tensioner to hit the tensioner body.
  6. It's the gaiter on the right as you look at the tailgate. Pull the rubber gaiter back and you will see the wires which are normally in a mess. You will need to solder in new pieces of wire and heat shrink them. Don't just cut and join or this will put more strain on the wires and they will break again. This is all assuming you can get the tailgate open of course.
  7. I would suspect the aux belt tensioner. Check to see if it's moving about and touching the main body of the tensioner.
  8. Check for broken wires in the tailgate rubber gaiter. Common problem.
  9. Yes that is correct. if you put the radio on for example it will show the station details instead.
  10. Has yours got the Convers+ dash?
  11. From what I've heard over time stay with the DMF unless you want to screw your transmission. Europarts are normally a good supply source but others will give their opinions.
  12. Have PM'd you
  13. Personally no problems with mine apart from the Bluetooth connection to the phone. I have the 2.2 200 engine which apparently is a Ford engine. I believe the other engines are made by Citroen, Peugeot, Renault (CPR) and I have read a few instances of the 1.8 destroying themselves because of early cam belt failures. Not heard anything about the 2.0 but may be worth a sniff about. Hope this helps.
  14. I keep reading about problems with the 1.8's. Cam belts breaking at around 80k even though the recommendation is 125k. Maybe Ford should look into these failures. I think these engines are made by the CPR (Citroen, Peugeot, Renault) consortium so that may be another avenue to try for a replacement.
  15. No O ring, air leak, increased revs................maybe.
  16. You did not have the linkage in the correct position when you reassembled it all.
  17. Do a search for removing the headlights. Very easy if you know where the screws are and what ones not to remove completely.
  18. A Galaxy without a rattle........................that would be a first!!
  19. From memory there is a piece of dashboard trim to the left of the glove box. This is where the retaining catch is located. Remove the piece of trim and you should then be able to let the glove box drop down. Once you have done that you should be able to remove it. Just hope my memory is still ok. B)
  20. I agree with BrianH it's a common fault. Remove glove box and you should see it attached to the side of the heater matrix. Normally red or green in colour and only one screw which is amazing for a Galaxy!!! Do a search for repairing it. Some members have managed to replace the fuses/resistors.
  21. A Ford mechanic has told me that this engine is made by the CPR (Citroen, Peugeot, Renault) group so that may be another thing to check for a replacement maybe.
  22. Just as I suspected. Thanks gregers.
  23. After a bit of experimenting I think it may be a speaker for the audio system. Could do with a copy of an up to date TIS DVD.
  24. Does anybody know if the mesh type panel on top of the dashboard is removable and if so what's underneath there. I'm thinking of mounting my TomTom there and was wondering if I can pick up power from under the panel. Thanks.
