Airbag does from under the steering wheel by two torque screws then comes off then pull clip off or prize gently with a small screwdriver.

I use port 2 as well

Last night I tried to turn light off with vagcom with the vcds-lite program that was recommended on here after doing full system check it came up with "could not connect with controller for the airbag system. Also tried it on seat Alhambra and vw sharan still says the same thing.

Is that the squib?

Right. Airbag light came on awhile ago I was told it was the squib as it is a common thing, so only just had the chance to buy one and fitted it today. After fitting it put it all back together and turned on ignition light went out and came straight back on again. Don't know what else to do except put it on a computer. As always it boils down to money also doesn't help mot in July other things to do to it tyres, abs light,welding and number plate. Can anybody else think of what else it could be? Don't want to replace the whole system. Thanks

how do i stop the clutch pipe from from popping off at the quick release on the outside of the gearbox?? it is now really p*****g me off if i want a new clip for it, it would cost me £107.44+vat as i have to buy a new pipe just for the clip as they don't sell them seperately.

its back. same problem but its not the drive shaft(this time) confused don't know wat to do next. any surgestions???????

found out the problem it's not the tranny its the drivers driveshaft. Took tranny to a gearbox specialist with the drivershaft(thats what he asked for) and he told me its not the gearbox but the drive shaft and he showed me that he could move the two parts of the shaft seperately and said that it should not do that. So thats the problem found out and is being rectified on monday along with a new clutch to save changing the clutch at a later date. price for a new shaft including the dredded call it £85 with surcharge. hi where can i get a gearbox from for a 99 v reg 1900 tdi galaxy tried ALL local scrap yards and on flea bay, tried every thing going and i need one asap not wanting to spend hundreds on a box as the car is only worth a few hundred. i need the car as i have 3 toddlers and a 9 week old baby so as u can understand how despirate i am to get it back on the road it has already been off the road for 4 days. Hi has anyone got a towing interface relay going as mine has gone looked on flea bay and they start at £20 upwards and I am not willing to pay that for one. thanks gaz

Well guys here's an update for u all. got a vag com lead connected it to the car, run diagnostics came up with cannot comunicate with air bag module, now just got to find out where it is and change it then should hopefully clear the problem. thanks to all

hi all. need help my airbag light has come on on the dash, i have not been in any bumps the drivers seat has been moved by my friend, checked under the seat for wires and there is none, can i turn the light off with out putting it on a computer and taking the bulb out, i have bought a diagnositic computer but when i connect it it just comes up with link error. I had it on a snap on computer and it connected with no problems. i refuse to pay £40 just to put it on a computer for a two minute job to clear a code that i didn't put on it. lol. please help. It is a galaxy mk I on a v plate which is 99 in the year. Many Thanks Gaz.

Did u get ur cable to work mate? I bought one and it dont work. Checked compatability all the way down to windows 95 and it still dont work.

Check the bulb in the dash it cud be that. I don't think it is but not sure. Gaz
