  1. I rang the local Frord dealer and they were a couple of quid for the non heatered ones ..bought 2. Cheers
  2. Its a 2.3 petrol 1998. So just the wash jet then? No need for the wired version? Cheers
  3. The drivers side front jet packed up over the week and I had a look under the bonnet. It was some seriously rubbed wiring had shorted it but there was a loose wire in the jet. It was a bugger to get it out thinking I could solder it back in. But it won't seperate and I need a new one. Funny thing is it has VW makers mark (made in CZ too). My question is this - if I take it to Ford or Seat or VW will I get a difference in the price? Will I get a reply?
  4. ...ok then, guess not
  5. Hi all, I was checking the plugs on the 1998 2.3 petrol bus and some of the wiring on the loom from the connectors to the coils etc is fraying and looking poor. I'm off to the local breakers tomorrow but was wondering if the 2.0 is same as the 2.3 because I asked at the breakers but they don't know. John
  6. Ok, I bit the bullet and sorted the radio power out. Memories work and no burning smell...... <_<
  7. Could someone just clarify what I need to do please?
  8. I had a play with the plug connectors and the haynes wiring diagram. This is what I found. The cars black plug connector has a small (0.5mm) brown/red pin that goes to the corresponding yellow stereo plug pin. With the key in and ignition on it gives 12v...nowt with the ignition off. The wiring diagram in Haynes shows that there should be 2 more red 2.5mm (12v?) wires going to the plug. But they aren't there..hmmm. It looks like someone has fitted a feed from the battery to the cigar socket and maybe 'nicked' a red 12v ... There is a spare female bullet connector which is live without ignition - should I swap the brown, red for the red live feed? There is a fuse on the battery for the cigar socket so it might do. I could then swap the small brown/red pin and make that safe. Does any of this make sense? Cheers anyway John
  9. Hi again folks. I took the easy option and bought an Argos Alba

  11. Cheers Mirez. That seems to gel with what I thought when looking at the stereo and in the handbook/haynes. It looks to me like nothing new was ever fitted. The ebay seller was sure this 6000 would fit. So,it doesn't and I can tell him and send it back and buy a decent one - a single din cd/radio? And the 2 plugs (one brown and one black) are the originals? There isn't a steering wheel control or cd changer in the back...just bog standard. Cheers again John
  12. Hi folks, new here and first but probably not the last question. Anyway..I bought a 1998 MKI 2.3 petrol automatic cheap and was going to do some minor fixings. First was the crappy radio cd player. It lost its memory every time it was switched off and there was a cd jammed in it. When I tried to remove the unit it turned out it was only jammed in there because it wrapped in gaffer tape...There are 2 plugs (one black and one brown) connected to another single plug that went to the radio/cd player.A mod? So, I looked for another radio/cd player and found a mint original 6000cds on fleabay for
