  1. I am glad to hear that you and your family are ok. Its a frightening thought loosing a rear wheel. I replaced a wheel bearing on my Galaxy after 210,000 miles, but it was making a noise. If your bearing did not make a noise then I doubt it was the bearing causing your inner tyre wear. I would be interested to know what the wheel alignment results are. Please post the readings when you get a chance. Best of luck.
  2. Well, I couldn't even get the hub off the bearing, so i have taken the trailing arm off and will take it to the Ford dealers to do the job.
  3. Yes it can especially if you are the ground is undulating. What is your mileage.
  4. Thanks Andy. I tried searching your post but could not find it. I have dismantled the brake calipers and discs, but can't find out how to pull the hub off. Any ideas anyone.
  5. I will be attempting to change the rear wheel bearing on my Mk1 Galaxy this weekend. I have a 5kg slide hammer to remove the hub and bearing. What do I need to install the bearing. Thanks
  6. The dremel was useless as the exhaust was thick and hard. i took a grinder and sliced along the overlap and it came off. 2 minute job when you know how. Pitty I spend an hour trying to figure it out
  7. That's what I will be using and with goggles.
  8. Thanks. In this case the slots are in the centre section so no problem if I destroy these. i could use a dremel.
  9. I am having trouble removing the centre box from the catalyst section, but the pipes appear stuck together. I tried twisting and hamering the centre silenser, using lots of WD40 and eneded up cutting the centre part just after the centre silenser. Is there a technique for removing the centre pipe from the catalyst pipe. Thanks
  10. I have 2 fault codes on my Galaxy. The main one is 00588 Airbag Igniter 32-10 resistaance too high and 00792 A/C pressure switch F129 35-00 I think the cause might be a poor earth but can someone tell me where the igniter switch is. Thanks
  11. My 1.9tdi AFN engine requires a centre exhaust box. There are may cheaper ones on ebay but I am unsure of the quality. Can anyone advise where to buy for best value for money. I will be fitting the exhaaust myself.
  12. Did water come out of each of the wheel arches. That is where the drain pipes exit.
  13. If the water is coming from behind the fuse box, this could be the drain pipes being disconnected from the sunroof.
  14. Thanks Zorgman, You have told me all I need to know to fix this one
  15. The fuse is fine and I have changed it for good measure. The rear lights are good, but still no light. i now have the o/s front fog light working so I prabably have enough voltage for this side. does anyone know where the feed to the front n/s fog light comes from. Regards
  16. It is the bolt below where you are pointing. that is where my drips were comming from
  17. I had the exactly same problem about 8 years ago om my Galaxy. I found the leak and took it to the Ford dealership. They removed the bolt and put some rubber or silicone sealant on the threads and screwed it back in, which I thought was a poor remedy, but since them, no more problems. Trust me my car has now done 206,000 miles and no problems have arrisen since then.
  18. My Mk1 Galaxy front fog lights are not working and have only 10.74v feed. I have used the battery as an earth so am happy that the earth is not weak. Bulbs work fine if connected to the battery. The battery is fully charged. I guess I am getting a large voltage drop to the fog light terminals. Has anyone any idea where I should start to get the voltage back up again. Incidently the side lights are only at 11v. Thanks
  19. Have you taken the under felt out? If not do so. You will have to cut along the centre console as the felt covers the entire width of the car. Get a hose and pour it on top of the sunroof. You should be able to see the water accumulate. Let me know how you get on. The other entry point is a bolt that holds the brake servo unit bracket. you will see this bolt on the inside of the car. Best of luck
  20. I used a blow torch on the nut to expand it, and then an allen key with a hollow socket. (Draper vortex). Without the blow torch it would have been imposible.
  21. Can we have the car engine code, mileage year etc
  22. From what I remember there is no rear subframe. The rear wishbones are attached to the strong points on monocoque floorpan. Hence if something is bent then you may have to straighten it by mechanical, hydraulic means. I did this with my brother in laws Mk2
  23. The chances are one of the spindles has seized. that is the spindle where the wiper arm attaches to the mechanism. The only way to fix this is to dismantle the whole mechanism and clean and re grease the spindle. You might wish to investigate by detaching one of the spindles and see what diference it makes. Then try the other side. Thay way you can be asurred that its the spindle and which side is the culprit. Unfortunately, its likely to take you half a day. Regards
  24. 105 is normal and will go to 110 quite often. I have had mine upto 115C on a hot day in France with 7 on board, a roof box and aircon on full. That was 130K miles ago.
