  1. Hi Spotom, I don't know if they all do that, but our MK1 2.3 GLX works with the ignition off....
  2. Hi Masked Marauder, Do you have a similar pdf for a MK1 Galaxy, as I'm after the the paint code as well??? Thanks in advance J. **************************************************************************************************************************************** Hope this helps Attached File ( Number of downloads: 21 ) Q1601001.pdf ****************************************************************************************************************************************
  3. Thanks Ivor & Soptom for your reply. I had tested it with the side lights on, that's why I knew it was working when it was out of the recess. Last night I had another play - I pulled the light out again and refitted and it works now. It was a tighter fit when I removed it a second time, therefore I think the on/off arm must have got jammed in the hinge mechanism, because it went back easily and turns off the light once the upper glove box lid is closed only a little way. Cheers again!!! JDF.
  4. Hi Mike99, I think I got a set of floor mats from them in dark blue a little while ago. The main down side is that only the drivers side mat has a quick release screw to anchor them to prevent the mat moving. All mats have a rough rubberised backing which does help them from slipping, but have found the ones in the back do creep slightly. The middle one fits reasonably well around the floor air vent, therefore doesn't move significantly. But the very back one for seats 6 & 7 is a bit on the small side, it could do with being deeper. It's also the one that moves around the most as its just rectangular in shape - would be better if extended under the middle seats. It's probably not helped by my 2 & half year old who likes to climb about in the car when ever he gets the chance..... For me they do what I want & help protect the original carpet. Bottom line is they are good for the price & much cheaper than Ford's!!! JDF.
  5. Hi All, I have just changed the bulb in the glove box, but can
  6. As a new owner of a 1998 2.3 GLX Galaxy, what is the element etched on the offside rear quarter light window with a sliding bridging contact? Its a bit like a very thick heating element. I don't think the vehicle has an alarm, as I can't see a sonic mounted pod by the 'B' pillar (between front and rear door - think that's the 'B' pillar?). Does it do anything ? or is it just a standard fit for an alarm regardless of alarm fitted or not? Cheers for any advice Jeremy.
  7. Hi All, Does anyone know if you can get flip keys for a MK1 Galaxy without remote locking buttons as our GLX only has central locking??? I like the idea of a flip key. Cheers JDF
  8. Cheers for that topcarp2 Have emailed the guy, just have to see what happens. Thanks JD
  9. Hiya, The overhead LCD clock has burnt out its display in our MK1 GLX. When looking through the radio manual (can't remember the model number fitted) the other day, I noticed that it mentioned a clock function can be displayed. It describes how to turn this on or off but when I tried this, the display says "No Clock". Does anyone know if this can be re-activated? Would be handy until I can find a resonable cost replacement for the original LCD clock. Ford quoted a massive
  10. Hi All, I have a MK1 Galaxy with the original curved wiper blades. Has anyone converted a MK1 to Aerotwin wipers? If so what did you need to do appart from the new blades? Do you need to change the wiper arms, as the original have curved wrap around ends. If so are these sourced from Ford or VW? If it can't be done easily/cost effectively then I'll just go for new straight blades. Cheers J.
  11. Just to throw another thought in the works - has anyone thought about running their diesel on cooking oil? A friend of mine had a go at running his non-turbo diesel van on veg oil. He had a small can of cooking oil in the back which fed to the main fuel pipe via a 3 way liquid switch (diesel on/oil off & Oil on/diesel off). He ran the van for a few miles on diesel until warm, then would switch over to the cooking oil. It seemed to work well. He doesn't use the system anymore as it was only an experiment & you can run into problems with the tax man due to him not getting the fuel duty..... J B)
  12. Hi ~adema~ I would like some White Dials for our MK1 Gal. Looked at Lockwood's site, but they don't seem to cover the Galaxy or other derivatives (VW or Seat) as standard off the self dial kits. I haven't contacted them direct yet, but from the web site it appears that they can do custom orders??? Let us know if you have any luck!!! Cheers JDF ;)
  13. Cheers Masked Marauder. Will have a look tonight, might pester you again B)
  14. Hi All, I have just joined this forum as my wife and I have just aquired a Galaxy 2.3 GLX. Please forgive me if this question has been asked before (newbee):- Where is the brake light switch (is it the metal canister with rubber diaphram?) and how do you adjust the sensitivity? At the moment you only have to blow on the brake pedal and the lights come on, a couple of times we have parked the vehicle & the brake lights have remained on unless you lift the pedal up with your foot. I have sprayed WD40 on the pedal spindle and return spring, but I think I need to increase the amount of travel very slightly, but don't know how? Cheers in advance for your help J.
