  1. I found that to change one of the driver side rear bulbs (indicator or brake) on our Mk1 it is easier to remove the whole light cluster than to fight with metal brackets etc in the side pod. The off-side light cluster is only attached via 3 bolts, remove these and the light unit just pulls away. I believe it's not so easy on the Mk2. I only found this out just before Christmas when I had to fit a new light cluster (
  2. Come on Music43, do tell what your experiment is?????
  3. Hi Stevie G, Welcome...... I like the new wheels !!!!!
  4. Gunson's Eezi-bleed, work very well for single handed use. Plus the brake reservoir is hard to get too, so it makes topping it up a lot easier. I have found it best to use a bicycle inner tube as a source of air, as you don't need very high pressure. Also means you don't need to mess around with your spare wheel. Good luck.....
  5. I haven't seen these holes in our galaxy, but haven't really looked that hard before. Will have a look at our tonight........ I suspect that they should be blanked off!!!! Have you tried putting the curtain wire down them and see where the wire emerges. You might have to remove or loosen the wheelarch liner to see if they come out there??? Or they might go into the dash somewhere??? Let us know what you find??? Sorry I can't really help on this one....... J.
  6. We fitted one of the square plastic fish eye lens to the bottom of the rear window - really useful when reversing as you can see upto approx 50cm (20") from the rear. Plus it was only about
  7. Finally got round to changing the front brake pads and disc on our MkI 2.3 Galaxy (1998). I didn
  8. I'm sure someone will be along soon to give you a better answer, but on ours if you have the aircon switched on; then the front screen will not activate, not sure about the rear??? Failing that then hopefully its just a blown fuse - sorry I don't know which one.
  9. We have a MK1 2.3 petrol Galaxy (1998) for just over a year now, and have been very very pleased with it. 1. Reliability. Touch wood it has been very reliable. Had a few minor problem most of which came with the vehicle :- i. Central locking didn't work when we got the car, turned out to be a loose wire in controller under front passenger seat. ii. Interior clock had water damage to the LCD numbers, replaced with second hand one off ebay for
  10. Hi All, Does anyone have a photo of rear speakers (not the door speakers) in their MK1 Galaxy? Would like to fit some in the near future. Cheers in advance. J.
  11. We had this problem with water coming out of the clock. I got a long length (3 metres) of curtain wire, the white plastic coated wire stuff and inserted it down the drain holes inside the sunroof. It exit's inside the front wheel linners so you wont see it emerge unless you remove these - I didn't, so had to guess that I had gone far enough. Once I removed the wire it came out quite dirty so it must have unblocked the rubbish. I then flushed with a little water from a jug. It seemed to work - touch wood, no water ingress since. Someone told me that there are also rear drains out of the sunroof, but I haven't tried to find them yet!!! Hope this helps?
  12. Hi All, I've had a quick search, but can't find any step by step instructions on changing the brake pads on a galaxy. Can anyone give me some advice? :D 1. Whats the best method to raise the front of the car,? (Due to Fords crap sill, as ours have been slightly damaged in the past. Luckily not as badly as some I have seen....) 2. I was going to clamp the flexible brake pipes and open the bleed nipple before pushing the caliper piston back, is this correct? 3. On the front is this just a simple push back piston or is it a wind back one? 4. Is there just one type of brake pad fitted on a MK1 Galaxy 2.3GLX (1998)? 5. Any other helpfull hints and tips? If I get time I might write a step by step guide with photo's if anyone thinks that this would be helpfull.... Cheers in advance for your help!!!
  13. Try your local friendly main dealer.......... My one (in Farnborough, Hants :D) said he has them for a MK1, which I need, for about
  14. Cheers NikpV, I've always wondered what it was for, now I know :D - but still probably wont use it.....
  15. Hi All, Can anyone tell me what the recess is used for, that is circled in white on this picture? Thanks

  18. Why do I have "Warn: (0%)" in my profile, with a number bars after it ????? Does anyone else have this? I haven't seen it before, have I done something wrong? I assume not as it's showing 0% ?????
  19. I would love to have a Caterham7 Roadsport165 in Platinum Silver. 165 bhp: XPower 1.8 litre K Series VVC. Max Power: 165 bhp @ 7000 rpm Max torque: 130 lbsft @ 5000 rpm 0-60 mph: 4.9 secs. Max speed:128 mph
  20. Hi Jonnyblue5 & welcome, I don't know the fix, but our starter motor sometimes runs on for a second or so, usually only happens once the car hasn't been used for a while and it has been sitting in cold/wet conditions. :( So your not alone. I would imagine a new unit will be required sometime in the future. I suspect its the solenoid sticking. Any helpful tips from others are also welcome....
  21. Hi All, Can anyone tell me the colour of the revering light wires? I was planning to conect a reversing sensor to one of them. Cheers for your help in advance. Have a Very Merry Christmas !!!!! JD
  22. Cheers for getting back Chromedome, To be honest I haven't tried yet, luckily it hasn't leaked since I posted the request for help..... I have just got approx 10 foot of curtain wire. So I will have a go over the Christmas break. Will post the results of all the helpful hints and tips - so watch this space..... Have a Good Christmas & here's hoping a mechanical break down free New Year to ALL !!!! JDF :(
  23. Hi Again Chromedome, Curtain wire sounds a good idea - flexible but rigid at the same time, I take it that it does fit? Another quick question for a numpty like me - "If I got a long enough length 6-7 foot, would I be able to see the free end once its comes out the bottom of the drain hole - in the wheel arch or will the plastic liner obscure it???" Cheers again JDF
  24. Cheers Chromedome & Greg 68. Will have a look tomorrow, if its not raining too hard !!!!! Chromedome - how do you lower the headliner? Thanks JDF
  25. Hi All, Sorry if this has been covered before...... We have a problem with water ingress into the clock well within the headliner. :D It only seems to happen with very heavy rain, like this morning in Surrey. My wife said the water poured out of the headliner this moring as she drove out of the drive and off down the hill. Our Mk1 GLX does have a sun-roof, but it is fully closed. We have removed the clock temporarily to help it dry out. Any ideas on were the water is getting in, please and how to fix it ????? Cheers in advance J.
