Would never stand up in court, they could not prove who was driving it and would be very unlikely to pursue it. I doubt they would even bother checking. " As it stands if you name the driver and they deny it then you get done for "failing to provide the information as to who was driving". The responsibility is on the keeper of the vehicle to name the driver and provide proof if required....yep I thought this was for the police and courts, as it is in every other crime under English Law. A true example, The police show you a photograph of your car exceeding a speed limit. ( it is assumed you had not previously reported the car as stolen ). The driver is clearly visible and is obviously not you, ( different race, sex etc ). Can you name the driver....no....then you get prosecuted for "failing to provide the information as to who was driving". Its that simple.

All the Shalaxy variants need reinforced tyres. :23: This may not be mentioned in the MK1 handbook but is marked on the vehicles ( look at either nearside or offside door pillar or inside the fuel flap, or possibly in the glove comnpartment ). Also don't confuse "Reinforced" with the load rating it is not the same... ;) the minimum load rating recommended is at least 95. Reinforced tyres typically are inflated to a greater pressure than non-reinforced tyres. Use of non-reinforced tyres will lead to the deformation and/or collapse of the tyre sidewall when cornering in turn leading to loss of steering and control.....obviously this is not good ! Remember it doesn't matter how good your brakes, steering and suspension are, or how good a mechanical condition the rest of the vehicle is in, everything relies on the tyres ( normally they are the only part of the vehicle in contact with the ground ). The fact I am running on slicks at the moment is irrelevant.. :19:

I have also heard that the control gear for HID lamps can interfere with airbags !

I would advise that if you can find anyway to join your mum in New Zealand do it now ! Wish I had emigrated to Australia or New Zealand years ago when I had the chance. These mini-green belts are being covered up with flats and "affordable housing"...... This affordable housing is snapped up for Buy To Let...... Definition of typical buy to let arrangement.. Uncle Jack has a couple of bob spare, buys a house here and lets it out. Uncle Jack's "relation" comes into the country...signs on the dole and rents Uncle Jacks house. The money given to layabouts on the dole affords a much better standard of living than in their home country. The tax payer pays for the rent ( and uncle Jack's mortgage ! ) Uncle Jack buys another house........ The builders are also making a killing from this demand for housing....again from the taxpayer. Used the name "Jack" so as not to offend....we all know what the real names would be.

Just a thought on HID lights in general. Can you flash them to warn other drivers of your presence ( yeh ok...in reality to say hello or warn of speed trap ). I thought they took some time to "warm up". Surely this is a legal requirement of the MOT ?
