  1. Well I tell it like it is, none of this nanby panby pussy-footing around. Sick of all these left wing dogoodr's with their political correctness rubbish. If someone does something wrong dont go around trying to find excuses for their behaviour, punish them for it. Bring back the birch, for these people who go around mugging old ladies, that would stop it. Got to be better than giving them community service and trips to disneyland. Did you see El presidento Blair ( the first prime minister to be questioned for illegal wrongdoings ) sneak the interview in on the same day he knew the papers would be full of Diana's death enquiry. And he also buried the Suadi Aeroplane Bribe scandal as well. I liked the way Blair dealt with this difficult situation. In case anyone doesn't know the story I will give the brief highlights below. Alledgedly one of our big Aeroplane manufacturers had slipped a bung to some Saudi officials to accept the order. After this became public knowledge to all and sundry, Blair thought I know lets have an enquiry to investigate the wrongdoing. The Saudis said if you have an enquiry to investigate the corruption we will drop the order and buy it from the frogs ( sorry typo their ). Blair then said its ok we will just drop the enquiry..........brilliant I am going to try this next time I get stopped for speeding. Look Mr Policeman if you give me a ticket for this I will go and drive my car in xxxxing France instead and give them all my fuel tax. Do you think I will get off ?
  2. I do not know any Chimpanzees in person either but still regard them as subhuman. Do you know any in person, you seem to be on their intellectual level. I buy Japanese goods because I have to not through choice, if their were british goods the same I would buy them instead. Bit like having to pay an extotionate amount of Tax on my fuel, dont want to but this is all that is available I am sorry I thought we outlawed hunting with hounds in this country, or did I miss something there. Why do you hate the chinese so, what have they done to you ?
  3. I missed the TIS information it seems to have dissapeared from the thread can someone repost it please. thanks
  4. Source is Arthur Price VW in Loughborough got the speak from one of the mechanics. They have a big pile of data for these engines, most of which is beyond me. Oy yeh should have pointed out that all these specs are for the Sharan not necessarily the Galaxy, there may be slight differences in the gearbox usage. ditto for the Alhambra. Some do appear to be in agreement with the TIS data however as I mentioned I still believe that VW took one set of data for this and printed it against all the engines. Also as the cat has not contributed to this post I dont think he ( or she, difficult to tell from the pic ) would really count as a bonefid member of the jury ( although IQ wise may be in the top ten ). I think I am proving my case quite conclusively as I am the only one to come up with any other information relating to this othe than the figures from TIS/Sales which I originally disputed. blah de blah de blah.........you know the rest
  5. Always regarded the Japanese as a lower sub species of human Thinks this kind of proves it
  6. This must be the innacurate document that the sales brochure got its figure from The figures I have ( these are the real figures ) are shown below 1995 66kw=202Nm 1996 81kw=225Nm 2000 66kw=240Nm 2000 85kw=285Nm 2001 96kw=310Nm 2001 110kw=320Nm 2005 103kw 2.0l =320Nm and a little bogie at the end, which I will put my hand up and say I dont know why this is seprate, please enlighten me. 2001 85kw 6 speed =310Nm I think the term nah, nah, ne, nah, nah springs to mind p.s. Still hate the cat Its gone quiet again...... Have the jury reached a verict ? or have they sulked of to bed ?
  7. Well you learn something new every day !
  8. noooooo it just luuuurvs chasing tail    :16: and sooo hypnotic tooooo :23: :16: I am not normally one to object to seeing a pussy.......... but this really does drive me barmy
  9. Any one know where the names Sharan and Alhambra come from, the galaxy is obvious but what are the meanings of the other two ? I know the Sharan is Carp ( think I spelt this correctly ) in Croation but where did VW get the name ?
  10. Never mint that .............. What about the cat ?
  11. Matt is that avatar a picture of you ?
  12. They have to be properly measured but do not have to properly advertised. Example of known VW lies 2.8 / V6 cyl. (30-valve) VW advertised was 280Nm their tech guys said 255Nm 2.3 / VR5 cyl. VW advertised was 205Nm their tech guys said 212Nm 2.4 / V6 cyl. (121 kW) VW advertised was 230Nm their tech guys said 216Nm 2.8 / VR6 cyl. (12-valve) VW advertised was 240Nm their tech guys said 225Nm These are from the Passats and similar, the last one may be the Sharan. Actual measured figures not from brochures but from VW's own measurements Again just quoting from the sales brochures In your last post you explained that the sales brochures said 310Nm you qouted no MEASURED figure. Not the use of the large letters as some people keep missing this, also for the folks at the back Does anyone have any figures for these engines other than from the sales brochure ? If so let me know please Thanks Kev p.s. Nikpv will you kill that ****ing cat, its doing my head in
  13. quote name='Andrew T' date='Dec 14 2006, 20:37:23' post='92093'] I have brochures for the Galaxy, Sharan and Alhambra and all quote 310 NM for 115 and 130 engines. I 'm sure that when the 150BHP Diesel was on Fords website it was 310NM as well. Obviously if its printed then it must be true. Picture attached to confirm this ! [
  14. It was based on a doubt of the figures that appear on the brochures Only one set of figures appears 310Nm torque at 1900rpm for the 115Bhp, 130Bhp and 150Bhp. This seems to be the only figures available and it seems unlikely to me that these 3 engines would all have exactly the same torque at a particular rpm. It seems much more likely to me that this was innacurate and the figure for one of the engines ( most likely the 150Bhp ) was being quoted for the other engines. "I've driven 3 cars and what you say is rubbish" is the same statement just condensed into an easy to understand format.
  15. Glad you got it sorted Geane Relay 109 really b*gg*rs up you electronics when it goes faulty. I wish I knew who the joker at VW was that decided to use the Glow Plug lamp to warn of ECU problems. What was wrong with using a seperate lamp ? A footnote Has anyone actually had a faulty ECU ? Please do not include example where Fraud has swapped your ECU and charged you an arm and a leg saying it was faulty, I mean real examples where you have plugged an ECU in and it doesn't work then plugged a different one in and it does ! I though these were rock solid. Rant for the day ( actually my second one dont mention the T word )
  16. Ok now we are getting somewhere. Nikpv like the ps. you could be right.......anyhow Lets look at what we have so far lb/ft versus lb ft debatable but a valid point..however we are in the world of auto mechanics which is different from the real world where capacitors are capacitors not condensors and inductors are inductors not coils...yeh ok autoelectrics same cowboys. In this weird world the term ft/lb is correct although I concede is confusing as it looks like ft divided by lb. Anyhow to get back to the point Some dangerous assumptions have been made I queried the torque given for the various diesels in particular the figure of 310Nm for all these engines at 1900 rpm. I will have to restate the formula in case people are incapable of readin the previous postings BHP = (rpm*lb*ft ).............note the inclusion of the * to keep some people happy This is not under dispute I think everyone agrees with that What is under dispute is the BHP and hence Torque at 1900rpm for the various diesels. Nikpv in his last statement uses this formula at 4000rpm to correctly give the torque for the engines However in his first statement he still uses the assumption that all 3 engines have the a torque of 310Nm and then goes on to calculate their respective powers. Extremely bad way to go about this he used as a reference point the very figure that was being disputed ! We need to use a figure other than 310Nm eg the BHP or some other given reference and then from this calculate the torque from this. Does anyone have any figures for these engines other than the disputed 310Nm one ? and a p.s .....why did I use ratios when the figures were available...it is the figures i was disputing...the fact that I used the figure for the 150BHp is irrelevant as it was only used to show that the other engines have a different torque which was my point. p.p.s or p/p/s depending on your point of view I hope some one other than me i still reading this...Nikpv "so why tal rubbish" Answer "obviously its what I do best " Luv Kev xxx
  17. ok 1) which part of the expression BHP = (rpm*lb/ft ) 5252 says Newton Metre's ? Please note the words lb/ft .......bit of a clue there. Please feel free to change the result to lb/ft if you prefer. Will the ratio be any different .... I know it wont..you know it wont...so why talk rubbish 2) "in this case I don't know if they have their max power at the same rpm" I do and they do. next please  And we all believe Ford's brochures.................. Out of curiosity does anyone know what VW say ?
  18. Utter rubbish ! Check your facts they are clearly wrong. Useful info for misinformed people. power = (engine speed * engine torque) / 5252 this equation relates to the laws of physics ( go argue with Newton or Einstein or Plank on this one ) Translating this becomes BHP = (rpm*lb/ft ) 5252 Therefore assuming same revs all the diesel engines Torque is a function of BHP, the rpm and constant 5252 are the same for all engines. Therefore if 150 BHP engine has a torque of 310Nm the 110BHP = 227Nm the 115BHP = 238NM the 130BHP = 269 NM I await a more sensible reply :D
  19. Mine exhibited identical problems, felt like someone had turned the engine off for a second. Turned out to be the fuel cut off valve losing its feed. Had other issues such as difficult starting, engine turns but doiesn't fire. The culprit in the end was discovered to be the ignition relay no 109. Changed this ( about
  20. On my work laptop, when you start up there's a note that says 'press del to enter set-up'. This gets the BIOS menu on screen... at least it works on my machine. (Just an idea.) Someone has set a password on her bios entry
  21. Mo4 you still need to concentrate on getting into the bios and changing the boot up order from HD to CD. Its obviously set to boot up from the HD first. I am sure on this laptop it is possible to reset the bios via a jumper or battery removal. Or finding a backdoor passwords if one exists Can you confirm the bios type ( phoenix, amibios or whatever )
  22. I'll agree with that and so apparentlly does El Doggo Dingo :D    He he he... Woofy to you teach! ;) :D ^_^ so for 600 rpm out of 4000 rpm the 115 has 55% more power than the 2.3? or for 3400 rpm out of 4000 rpm the 115 has lower power than the 2.3 or 85% of the time the 115 has lower power than the 2.3. Hardly any proof of a better performing engine! Facts and figures can be made to read whatever someone wants them to mean and are therefore meaningless in 95.73% of cases. ;) Some people prefer petrol, others prefer diesel. End of. :D well said.who is cares :D ;) Obviously me SWMBO The guy who puts the prices on the fuel pumps El Presidento Blair and all the other less significant people out there
  23. will do maz :D If you have the windows CD and authentication code then just go for install windows and then when it detects the existing operating system choose repair. I personally wouldn't touch the recovery console even with a very long bargepole !
  24. 310nm for the TDI 115 I dont think so! This is the figure for the 150Bhp The torque on the galaxy diesels is directly related to the Bhp ( with the exception of the 90Bhp which is slightly different ). No my signature syas 110bhp !
