Have you tried holding the trip button in whilst turning on the ignition ? This may flip from one to the other.

Dont like the idea of the ACC with Radar that turns your throttle of if you are too close to the car in front. It sounds worse than the current daft ABS brakes idea that is forced on everyone and cause more fatalities than they prevent. Now if it was at the back and flashed your brake lights when the car ( most likely a BMW ) behind was too close , that would be a good idea

Flashing Preheat Lights
big_kev replied to big_kev's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi Steve, If I provide 12v direct from the battery the engine fires up fine, this is how I have been running it for the last few weeks. I have checked the fuse F32 it seems fine ( swapped it with another ). The money seems to be on the PCM, any idea if I can just swap one from another similar model or do Frauds have to get involved? Also does anyone know if they can be seen using VagCom or similar equipment. -
I remember taking my old Seirra in for 4 new tyres and the guy at quickfit told me to keep the tyres and change the car ! Funneee! I think not. I have a bald one on the back that will have to be changed,( MOT on Monday ) expensive compared to the seirra's ones. Will let you know what I get ripped off.

I found when I fitted my sensors and run all the wires back to the rear passenger side by the power sockets that the supply for the reversing lights was on the rear driver side ! , bum! Had to run a temp cable accross back of car to pick up feed. One day when it is nice I will rerun all the parking sensor wires to the other side.

My old 97 GLX 2.0L didn't have one. On closer inspection there was no little red lamp built into the fuel gauge at all and therefore would never work. The manual stated that there was one and gave full instructions ?

Flashing Preheat Lights

I tried swapping out the brake light bulbs. No difference still the same. We are losing track here, I think the bulb failure lights are coincidental. The main issue is still the lack of voltage to the fuel cut off valve thingy. Any idea which relay or fuse feeds this ? -
Might as well put my tuppence worth in. My diesel ( before it went a bit doo lally ) coped quite well at 30mph in 4th as most diesels do, this is a diesel charecteristic. Its petrol engines that do not like the low revs. I used to set the cruise control at 30mph and it would happily pull up hills in 4th. I think you may have a power problem. :) Also on the subject of auto's versus manuals it is my experience that most ( if not all ) people who do not like auto's have never driven them. ;) For example, difference on motorways or dual carraigeways----none whatsoever you don't really change gear enough to notice. Difference about town, no comparison auto is so much better. Mpg , the auto gearbox is so much heavier, take a manual chuck a couple of bags of cement in the back and it will perform pretty much the same. Usually Autos are slightly better as they tend to make the driver less throttle happy. and yes I am having a bad day ! :)

Flashing Preheat Lights

I will try chnaging the brake light out tomorrow ( when it is not so cold and wet ). Still cant see how this will affect the feed to the fuel cut-off valve, but I will try it anyway and let you know. Thanks Kev -

Yup the brake lights are fine as are all the others, checked these when the bulb warning lights started acting up. -
1: The climate control flashing could be anything from complete failure of the climate control system to just a dodgy flap-vent. Check it on cold and if it works ok from all the vents then I wouldn't worry too much. 2: The loss of the FM signal is more likely to be a fault with the radio, but your right it could be the booster only way to check is by replacement, see if they will knock 50 quid off. 3: Perfectly normal p.s. I wanted a diesel auto but couldn't find one at a decent price had to make do with a manual, nice motor enjoy it.

The old Gal has a problem. Driving along happily noticed the Diesel preheater light flasing ! No idea what that meant ? Ignored it, as you do ! Arrived at destination no noticeable difference in driving performance. Next day it wouldn't start, turned over fine just wouldn't start. Gave up eventually and called green flag, after the usual b*ggering about he deduced that it no fuel, and that the fuel cut-off relay had no power to it. He assumed that it was a blown fuse or dodgy relay( aren't these just conveniently placed to get at ). A temporary fix was put in place, lead direct to battery with in line fuse to remove overnight so it didn't go flat). Car now starts fine, however it is as flat as a pancake, no power going up hills and lack of accelleration, even for a diesel ( before anyone comments ). As a footnote I did notice before this problem started that the bulb wearnings light were having a party, sometimes they would all not go off whilst driving sometimes just the odd one or two, this still happens, don't know if it is related or not. Anyhow enough rambling, who can tell me which relay feeds they fuel cut-off valve in the engine bay sort off middle left ish. Thanks Kev
