  1. The only thing putting me off about film, and to me it's a biggie, is the thought of scratches in the power windows. I am still kicking myself for not bidding more than
  2. Hi all, just got in from work to find a reply from the bank (been called in to work for the last three days and will be in for the weekend as well - HM forces for you!) Here is what it says - Thank you for getting in touch with us. I am sorry you are unhappy about your account charges. Like any business, we do make a charge for some of our extra services. When customers don't have enough in their accounts to cover a payment, this always means extra work - and it has to happen very quickly. We have to agree to make the payment by setting up or increasing an overdraft, or tell customers we can't agree it. We feel it's fair to charge for this service. Of course it's only fair too, that we're completely open about any charged-for services before you take them up. That's why we take care to give every new customer the latest guide to our charges. You can also get up-to-date details about fees and borrowing rates at all our branches, through our helpline and on our website. Just as importantly, we do everything we can to help our customers avoid these charges altogether. I'm sure you'll know how easy it is to keep a running check on how much is in your account. You're free to get an up-to-date balance at any of our cash machines, over the phone, on line and by weekly text to your mobile. If you know a payment is going to take you over the limit we've agreed, you're welcome to see if we can raise it - and we can usually give you an answer straight away. Again we can do that for you by phone, on line or at any of our branches. I do hope you can see that we make our charging system as fair as possible - and why I can't agree to cancel your charges. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do. If we cannot come to an agreed solution after this I will help you refer your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service for independent advice. If you are happy with the way I have dealt with your complaint, there is no need to reply to my letter. If I have not heard back from you by the 17/02/2007, I will close my file, though I will be happy to reopen it should you come back at any point afterwards. Please give me a call if it would help to talk through anything in my letter. Yours sincerely Well, on any other day I might have said "Oh well, tried my best" and given up. They will get the full 14 days, then I will draft a second letter informing them of my initiation of court proceedings. "I do hope you can see that we make our charging system as fair as possible - and why I can't agree to cancel your charges." Fine, then get your supervisor. Bring it on. If I fight and win, I win If I fight and loose, at least I fought. Watch this space.
  3. No reply as yet. They have until the 1st Jan. Have been doing a bit of research, the next step is to is start court proceedings and await the reply. Their choice - defend (with costs), ignore (I win by default) or, make me an offer or refund in full. Banks seem to keep things until the last minute of deadlines and try to fob you off. NO CHANCE this time. I will have to pay to start proceedings (fee depends on claim amount) but this looks to be around
  4. Could we get back onto the thread subject please! "Window Tinting Help Needed Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeee" ;) :16: I placed a bid for a full set of privacy glass on Ebay. Was outbid but didn't go any higher as it was a big trek and would have used a whole tank and all day to pick up. It was very cheap and am regreting it now. :16:

  10. Everyone have a cool yule. Treated myself to a new 19" TFT screen last week (The old CRT was giving me eye strain love.  ) Anyone waiting for the sales? Once again. Merry Christmas and a happy new year to everyone.  :39:
  11. Yep your right. 27th and 28th, thanks for the pointer.
  12. Checked with the Post office online, and the bank (loLdysBTS) has received my letter. Just waiting for their reply now. Off topic for a mo, has anyone been recording Terry Pratchett's "Hogfather" on DVD? I have the first episode from Sunday but missed last nights finale. Can anyone help? I will send a blank disc to anyone who could burn me a copy. Thanks.
  13. I have sent today, by recorded delivery, the pre-formatted letter available from the BBC website. All I had to do was enter my details in the relavent places. Dug out (on line) the statements for the last 4 years to highlight the charges and included this info with the letter. If you dont have the full 6 years worth of statements you can estimate the rest by following the instructions on the website. I will let you know what happens as I want my money back! :16: Not letting you know how much I have been charged :D , but if I get it all back or they offer a settlement figure anywhere near, it will be a very nice sum (four figures) :D They will, apparently sometimes close your account after settling. So there is a warning to have another bank account just in case. Watch this space.
  14. Not asking for anything, (apart from the old Happy Birth song) but I reach the big old 43 on Dec 31st. ;)
  15. Bring back Richard Allinson that's all I can say. I am listening to 210 FM  ;) in the car Mon to Fri. Well, when I say listening, I'm not really hearing, keep pushing the CD button for something different. Sleigh bells anyone???
  16. Thanks for the replies. I live Berkshire/Hampshire border area. I checked the transmitter engineering work but couldn't see anything obvious. It's been bad here for a couple of months. I might have to get a new Dab radio for christmas!
  17. Hi folks. Is it just me or has anyone else noticed increased reception noise when tuned into Radio 1 lately? Is there any truth in what I have heard, that the BBC are reducing FM transmitter power in the hope we will all buy DAB stereos? I listen to R1 when driving to/from work, and R2 etc at the weekends. No probs with R2, R3 or local stuff, just R1. Thanks.
  18. Not sure if the link will work but have look at this. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Compact-2-Berth-Camp...1QQcmdZViewItem Item no 250033684939. Log into ebay and look at completed listings. Check the roof out!
  19. Load of rubbish! I have found a guaranteed method of reducing fuel consumption - don't put your right foot down so hard! No, seriously. I read this article a while back about you driving style and how it affects MPG. It's all based on looking ahead while driving, carrying speed through corners, getting in one gear higher than normal for a certain bend (let the torque do the work) and pressing the clutch pedal/going into neutral when coasting/down any hill/slowing down. Pulling away from a roundabout/lights/junction? accelerate slower - you WILL catch the car in front up again. Give 2nd gear a miss (don't hang too long in first) and go into third, etc. I have been doing this for a few months now and am saving about
  20. Beat me! I was going to say Nine bob note. Showing our age aren't we? :D :D
  21. Calcot Reading is fab for me. I live 15 mins away. We can look at each others Gals but don't expect me to chat much, I'm a bit shy.
  22. I have thought about doing mine. Choices, Leave it as so. Sell yours and buy a Gal with black windows. Get some black window tint (cost, hassle of cutting the film JUST right so it fits, then doing it all again 'cause it looks sh!t) Paying someone else to do the above. Looking on Ebay for someone selling "ALL" the black windows. With cost/hassle of removing the old ones and fitting the new glass. (This is a mod to your car so the insurance comp might want to know) My choice? No 1. (Wish I had bought a Gal with Black windows)
  23. Ok here's something for you. What is the strangest thing you've found in a remote part of your Galaxy that you normally wouldn't look? I once had a Mk2 Golf GTI that had broken glass under the carpet (break in before I bought it?) Since I bought the Gal 18 months ago I have found, in various places - a Mars bar, a pound coin (in the engine bay) and a playing card. Last night I was fixing the rattle from the loose heat shield in the engine bay. And I found a 3mm socket buried in the dirt in the plastic sump guard. This was not mine and I wonder how long it has been there. What have you guys and gals found?
  24. I stand corrected. Thanks for the info. I suppose if I had bothered to read the full post with what model was mentioned - I would have kept my mouth shut!
  25. Use the search button. (saves you asking a question that has been probably been asked before) Your problem will very likely be the perished rubber hose going to the vacuum pump behind the left hand front indicator lamp. Open the bonnet and undo the one screw(star/hex shaped head) holding the indicator lense in place. Pull the lense forward and you will have access to the pump and hose. Feel with your fingers and have a look for any splits. A split will let the air out and cause your loss of cruise control - I had the same problem(it's a common fault) If the split is near the end, cut it off. Otherwise it's a trip to the dealers for a new length of hose or a repair with some plumbers tape.
