  1. i agree . a service would be the best thing for your car . only about 40 pounds in parts if u do it yourself .
  2. Hi there Pressing the ECON button releases the air con clutch (no air con) Auto switches on air con and brings the inside temp to what the display is set to regardless of outside temp 22 deg is suppose to be the default setting. The heated screen automatically comes on when first starting when outside temp is approx around the freezing mark sadly i havent got the climate control version, just an ac button along side the rear heater button and air recycling button. ive had a look in the instructions but cant find anything.
  3. how do u turn the air con to manual mode as mine keeps coming on when i put the blower onto the windscreen. the front heated screen comes on as well, is there any way of turning this off?
  4. ive just bought a galaxy 3 weeks ago with full history and it had a reciept for a osf driveshaft stump . as there all made in the same factory it could be this as people have suggested.
  5. pd oil? ill watch out for that. by what ive heard its pretty much the same as a petrol but without the spark plugs. cheers gents.
  6. its got a full service history but hasnt been done fo 10000miles. i was assuming glow plugs needed changing like spark plugs do but i guess they dont . like i said i dont really know that much about diesels so im trying to learn as much as i can. thanks for the link by the way.
  7. ive just bought a 03 galaxy tdi130 and im wanting to service it . ive always done my own but ive never serviced a diesel before. oil , oil filter, air filter im ok with as i guess its the same as a petrol but what do u do when it comes to the fuel filter and glow plugs? any info would be most welcome( like where they are and how to do it) . if i do manage to service it myself, which im hoping will it turn off the service light on start up or does this need to be turned off via the computer system? cheers.
  8. the red flashing lights definetly low water level. u might have a water leak somewhere, i did. as for the abs light one of your sensors will be on its way out and need changing. make sure u go to vw for the part though as its about 20 pounds cheaper than at ford; unless anyone on here knows of an even cheaper alternative......
  9. lol i just bought a 1.9 tdi ghia 2003 and it has the same problem ...except for the cutting out and ignition bit ill wait with you for help the central locking clicked again on my other key for the first time the other day so i know its got nothing to do with the key. im gunna try the scrappers and take an old galaxy door apart to see how it all works before i start butchering mine so ill let u know if i find owt out. im gunna guess that a blob of oil might do the trick as it sounds like summat s jammed or sticking .
  10. ye ive got a working key but the pats chip is molded into the plastic . ill try the dealers first . if its gunna cost too much its off to the scrap yard to try and obtain an old key . do u know if the mk1 galaxy key is the same as the mk2 ? thanks for your help by the way, much appreciated.
  11. the pats chip seems to be missing from my key fob. is there any way of buying a new one or can i buy a new or used key and remove the pats chip and code it to my car?
  12. ye ive put a new battery in it but its made no difference. whats the pats chip? is it what holds the security code to start the car?
  13. hi there. just like to congratulate u on what looks like a great forum. i thought id post cos im after some advice. ive just bought a 2003 tdi and seem to be having some problems with the remote central locking. when i press the unlock button the drivers door clicks 3 or 4 times then refuses to open even though the rest of the car does. when i finally get in the car and put the key to position 2 in the ignition it lets me unlock the door via the interior handle. when i go to start the car it starts up for a couple of seconds then cuts out. any replies most welcome, cheers.
