not sure if ive asked this before but is it possible to remove my manual air con controls and fit in a climate control unit or is it not that easy ? (2003tdi) im guessing all the software is in the actual control unit and im just wondering does climate have additional wiring looms in the back that wont be fitted to my car? cheers.

A\c And Blower Problems
bfc1001 replied to Gunman's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
more than likely ford wont stock em as they dont make em and you ll probably pay over 40 pounds for one there . they like to stick there bit of profit on top once they ve bought em off vw. if u want my advice always go to vw for parts not ford . there cheaper and customer service is non existant at ford. -

could try scrap yard or e bay to save a bit of money but i think there only 25pounds or so new . just make sure u go to vw and not ford for the part. -

you d be right on the resistor mate . you ll need to remove the glove box to access it . cant miss it , its green and needs a screw removing to get it off. id sort that first before looking at air con. -
Flywheel Or Clutch
bfc1001 replied to godimgood99's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
when mine went about a year ago i could nt even get it in gear .cost about 850 pounds to have done unfortunately . i think my clutch was nt too bad but if your having the work done and thinking of having the car long term its worth having everything replaced , including the clutch. must admit though never heard any banging and when i got it in gear it drove as normal , not 5mph so could be summat else. -
Parking Sensor Fault Results
bfc1001 replied to redders74's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
dont know mate but if u go on vag com u should be able to read at what distance there reading , meas readings i think , channel 1 and 2 . when i tested mine all read 255cm but my broken one read 95cm. with this reading it showed me power was getting to the sensor so it wasnt the wiring it was the sensor . look on e bay for gal parking sensors; there s sonmeone from poland selling sensor s for around 40pounds each witch is half what the dealers are charging and they are genuine vw audi parts. if your getting zero reading from the sensors id start looking under your passenger seat at the module to check for damp wires . i cant see wiring breaking at four seperate points. ps meas readings should be directly underneath fault codes on your vag com. -
i dont know for sure mate but when i replaced my air con pressure switch on my gal for one from a vw passat i compared part numbers and they were exactly the same apart from the letters at the end , even though it was the same part. id guess both ecu s are exactly the same . maybe there just made by different suppliers and that s what the letters indicate....

2001 2.3 Ghia Petrol Sluggish
bfc1001 replied to majordamage069's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
had a leak on my 98 2.3 galaxy and bought a tub of leak seal and it sorted it out straight away . should work if its just a small hole . just make sure u get a good make , not one of the cheaper ones. -
just got another coouple of questions if anyone could please help(should have put em in my other post!) the first ones about the oil filter and a bit silly but which way do u turn the filter holder to unscrew it , clockwise or anti clockwise? (my car s a 03 tdi(130). ive only ever changed the old type filter s before ,not the paper ones and as the tops made of plastic and looks like its been overtightened i dont want to snap it or anything if i start having to apply a lot of pressure. my last question is a little more tricky. the low brake pad light has come on my dash and when ive looked at the sensor s on the brake pad s themselves they ve been cut and twisted together to bridge the circuit which a lot of people do do. ive tested the front wires with a voltmeter and its reading closed circuit but the back sensor is reading open circuit which i guess means there s a break in the circuit somewhere. do the wires for this sensor run into the rear cabin heater then along the sill where the rear washer pipe runs and is it possible to bridge the circuit at source(the module) and if so where would i find it on the car? ive traced the wire as far back as i can but it disapeares under a heat shield near where the aux heater is . all advice on the above greatly appreciated, cheers.

cheers fella.

just a quick question if anyone can help. are mk1 and mk2 wing mirrors the same? mines broken and i was thinking of visiting the local scrap dealers and getting an old mk1 mirror and switching it over to my mk2 gal and just swap the front coloudr coded bit. would this work? cheers.

if abs light is on it would indicate one of your sensors or rings isnt working properly . i had a 1998 galaxy and ended up replacing three sensors over 2 and a half years . not that hard to do yourself , its just finding out which one is broken. as for the handbrake light check your brake fluid level, past that it could be summat more serious.

Air Con Fix For 2 Pounds!
bfc1001 replied to bfc1001's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
as for going to quick fit, if this sensor is your problem i strongly reccomend going there first for a free refill . once id cleared the sensor on vag com i tested the air con pressure from the port and it was reading nearly double what it should but when i turned the air con on it dropped to the prescribed charge. i guess they must force the gas in then let it sit in half the system before they turn on the air con to fully circulate it. -
Air Con Fix For 2 Pounds!
bfc1001 replied to bfc1001's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
id struggle to take a photo to tell u the truth pal , im not that good with electrical gismo s but there is a photo of it on this site . i googled ford galaxy air con pressure sensor and managed to find it.just keep searching and u should manage to find it. like i said in my post find the horn on your car , its right at the front of the car on the drivers side behind the fog light. if u then get under the car and just look past the horn just above it u should see the cable that runs into the sensor . unplug the cable and you ll just need a 17mm spanner to remove sensor. my gal dosent have a splash guard underneath it, never did when i bought it but looking at the state of the sensor i think that might be the reason why it broke. (corrosion). my galaxys a 19tdi 130 on an 03 plate but i cant see there been much difference between the different diesel engines regards possition of this sensor. anyway let me know how u go on and the best of luck. -
thought i post to say ive finally managed to get my air con working and hope its some help to other galaxy owners i did a vag com check on my gal and it came up air con pressure sensor fault , intermitent which from reading many posts on the subject is fairly common. i then took it to quick fit who do a service where if they cant re charge your air con for any reason they dont charge you . they tried and failed but did tell me there was no leaks on the system so is well worth doing as its free to find out . next i managed to locate the said pressure sensor , its behind the horn at the front drivers side of the car , you can just about see it through the lower grille on a t bar. when i removed it , theres no need de gas the system as its just a valve i noticed it was corroded and split . these sensor s are 60 pounds from the dealer which i did nt fancy paying so after a drive to the local scrap yard i managed to get one for the princely sum of 2 pounds! dont worry if theres no galaxy s there , mines a mk 2 03, i got one off a vw passat . just check anything vw audi and you should strike gold. finally refitted sensor ,cleared fault on vag com and hey presto lovely air con. the only thing i cant work out is that it was fully charged even though its never worked since ive owned the car which is about 18 months so im guessing it never worked for the previous owner. id like to think that qiuck fit have somehow unwittingly charged it for me for nothing, which is why it might be worth taking it along while its broken. anyway i hope this is some help to at least one galaxy owner out there as ive spent the last 18 months trailing the internet and just running into dead ends . the hardest bit of the job is finding the sensor but it is there , just keep looking behind the horn and you will find it. cheers.

stay well away fella. if u read your car user manual it ll even tell u in there not to use it.
-
cheer s for that mate. ive got a mk2 but im guessing the switch is in the same place. my vag com says the switch has a short so im guessing it is faulty.
-
thanks to help from this site i have managed to install vag com on my lap top and scan my car for faults and was wondering what the system is capable of . i only had one fault but the system would not clear it , kept saying software not registered . is it not possible to clear faults with the cheap lead ? do u need the dearer 250 pounds one? as for my fault it said ac pressure sensor fault . is the sensor replacable and if so where is it on the car? any replies much appreciated. cheers .

daft question but is your key coded? i have 2 keys but only one works. the other will turn on the lights on the dash but wont start the car.

got part today , fitted it and the fans working a ok . thanks for the advice to all concerned . much appreciated and saved me a trip to a auto electricians. just got another quick question if anyone can help. my air con s not working and i thought id check to see ive got a 12v power supply to the compressor . when ive gone to unclip the power cable i cant seem to get it off . tried to practice on the alternator cable and could nt get that one off either! is there an easy way of unplugging the cable s cos i cant seem to suss it out? cheer s .

Hello All - Newbie In Need Of Help!
bfc1001 replied to Joreysdad's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
ive no idea s pal but i had a mk1 gal 2.3 and it did exactly the same. the fuse always seemed to hold out for six months or so , as u said it seems to melt but not blow , then id change it and get another six months. if i remember it was the fuse for the rear heater in the bottom right of the fuse box. -
well i managed to get glove box out today and undid resistor pack and changed thermal fuse . sadly still the same so looks like im off to vw for a new un. tested resistance and pins 1 and 4 all seem in order and so do 2 and 3 . i guess theres 2 seperate circuit s within the resistor pack and all seem to be ok . ill let u know how i go anyway . cheers.
