bfc1001 replied to seveer's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II

ye id say check stoplight switch. its located just above your brake peddle and should unscrew . ther about 15 pounds for a new un. -
thanks for the reply chrisp. managed to get it sorted . turned out to be the flywheel and clutch. cost me a pricey 840 pounds to put right ;) . why they have to put on a dual flywheel god only knows......

hi there, i was wondering if anyone had a little advice for me please. the other day my clutch pedal suddenly lost its compression and went loose stopping me from changing gear. ive tried pumping the pedal which seems to improve things for a brief time but then it comes back within a couple of minutes. ive taken it to my local garage and they ve sort of said the whole system, including flywheel needs changing which could cost owt up to a grand. personally i think it could be a hydrollic faliure and was wondering if anyone else has had a simillar problem and what the cure was . all replies much appreciated. cheers.

Lap Belt And 3 Point Belt?
bfc1001 replied to buckleyhome11's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
there should be 2 buckles in the centre seat and no lap belt . im guessing the seats you ve got in your galaxy arnt original mk2 seats but some taken from a mk 1 then fitted to yours hence the 2 seat belts. -
ive just had a look and when ive put the air con on the fan hasnt moved. ive had a quick search on the forum and the main problem seems to be a relay, cant remember which number it is off the top of my head.could that be the likely cause? ill pop out and see if i can hear anything when i turn it on.....

cheers fella. what if there as dead as a door nail? big fix ?
-
Typically 4*c, it should be working fine with the current weather - if its not then check the front fans are turning when the A/C's on, seems to be another issue! should a fan kick in when the air con s turned on ? is this the main cooling fan in front of the engine or is there another one tucked away somewhere under the engine covers specifically for the air con?
-
ive re gassed my air con and its holding charge but the air coming out is only mildly cold. does this mean there s summat else wrong with my air con or is that as good as it gets?
-
cheers fella. it does say asz1 in my log book but no power reading though it dosent in my handbook. im guessing ford did nt have the reading s when the car was first built.

ive been looking for insurance quotes today over the phone and every time i gave my reg they asked if my galaxy was a 115 or a 130. im pretty sure its a 130 but when i went to check the log book and under the engine to make sure i could nt find anything to comfirm my engines power . does anyone have any ideas if there s any marking s on the car hid somewhere to comfirm it is a 130? its an 03 plate 6 speed manual. cheers.

Problems With Vw 150 Tdi Engine
bfc1001 replied to bfc1001's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
turbo seems ok, no plooms of white smoke coming out the back. he s tried unplugging the air flow sensor but it has nt made any difference. my only theory is that the red diesel , being a lower octane and thus more dirty has completely blocked the egr valve so no air s getting to the engine hence the slow rev s and no power. -
my friend has an 05 saab with the 150tdi engine in it and he s having some major probs with it. i know its a galaxy site but i was wondering if anyone could help? it only revs to 3000 rpm but takes about 5 secs to get there from idle. he says it also takes about 30 secs to get to 30 mph. not good. he has been using red diesel in it , i dont know if this could damage his engine or not but im sure it hasnt helped. all idea s more than welcome, cheers.

just a quick one this, ive followed the instructions to repair the rear washer pipe as directed on this site and re connected the pipe. it still didnt work but upon further investigation ive found that the pipe has completely melted and split between the connector and where u see the pipe in the engine bay. ive got some 8mm air line pipe which im going to repair it with but im just wondering if anyone knows whats made it melt ? would i be better off finding an alternative route thru the bulkhead ?

2.3 Slight Miss Fire
bfc1001 replied to ckgreenall's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
had the same problem with a 98 gal 2.3 i once owned. it turned out to be one of the ht leads . when the revs were low it would misfire cos the car was producing less current to the plugs but as i revved harder, increasing the current the problem would go away. if i remember plug one and three s leads cost about 12 pounds but two and four have a black box on top of em which does the timing, a little like an old style rotor arm and they come in at about 60 pounds. sadly mine was one of the dearer ones. hope this is some help chief.
