Wasn't that bothered about having cruise control until I got it. Now I wouldn't want to be without it. Howard
-
The steering controls are an option at extra cost from new but do the same as the stalk (can't see the point in them myself, I would rather have been able to change the temp controls on the steering wheel). The stalk control is standard equipment. Howard

Could be the wiring loom breaking down where it enters the tailgate (common fault, opening and closing the tailgate damages the wires) and shorting across the the wires, causing the problems you describe. Howard

Bah! Turncoat...Traitor.....May your toenails grow long and curly :D Seriously though, good luck and do pop in and let us know how it's going. Howard

Increased Mpg For All Engine Types

Hmmmm interesting. I think I will be chicken and let others test it first and see if they get any ill effects. Could be good though if it works. Howard -
Go to an independant aircon specialist and get them to do a diagnostic with a gas sniffer. Most main dealers know absolutely sh*t about aircon. Howard

Belt and should be changed every 40,000 miles Howard

Air-con - How Does The Compressor Engage?

50 mph in the middle lane  2 people doing the same speed on the same road will still give different figures. I find the cruise control will give me better mpg than me controlling the speed and when the wife drives I get the same mpg as the 2.3 petrol :( Howard

Also the seating isn't that versatile. If you have a baby seat, you need to remove it to let people into the rear seats. Howard
-
Look at the headlining in the roof over the 2 rows of rear seats, if it has air vents, then it's the dual aircon, if no vents, then it's the single. Howard

Air-con - How Does The Compressor Engage?

The guy who changed my condensor the other day, said he had changed several Galaxy compressors' whos drive shaft had snapped so the pulley would still turn but the compressor didn't work. Howard -
Get them to check the condensor where the filter screws in. Thats where mine was leaking and the independant aircon specialist who fixed it said this was a really common problem and he has done loads of these. I had my aircon checked because I had the same problem as you, it just didn't feel as cool as before but now it's done it feels almost too cold set on 21 degrees and I now tend to run at 22, it's lurverly. You shouldn't have been so cheap, and gone for the Ghia version then. That has bulb monitoring, electric windows all round and lots more besides. It's no good having a go at Ford for not putting everything on the cheaper version. Buy a Ghia or stop moaning! Howard

Anyone in the southeast area who needs any aircon work or servicing try Aircon Direct Had my condensor changed today as it was leaking,

Had my Galaxy for 2 and half years now with no problems until last weekend when the aircon packed up. The condensor is leaking and will cost me about

Really sorry to read about your loss. It's hard to suddenly lose someone close through no fault of their own. All I can say is try not to play the "what if" scenarios in your head, it can tear you apart. Howard

I may be wrong (I usually am) but I thought the body shape and thus the glass was the same shape throughout the MK1 and MK2 Shalaxy range. Howard

I know how you feel, parked in the parent and toddler space at Tesco's so loads of space between cars next to me, I come back and there's a nice red scrape round the corner of the rear bumper :) I was sitting watching an old boy reversing out of a space in a car park the other day and he went backwards and forwards, only stopping each time when he nudged a car. I guess thats how he knew he'd gone far enough :D Howard

You should have gone for the Ghia version then. It has the bells and whistles you want i.e. outside air temp gauge, fuel computer, cruise control, 6 disc cd changer etc and the diesel has the 6 speed box. My Galaxy gives me a hug everytime I get in <_< Mind you the bloody aircon packed up last weekend and I'd been feeling so smug that mine hadn't had a problem hohum. Howard
