Help Car Will Not Move When In Gear
HalfPint replied to quint's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I don't know about the drive shaft issues. But My wife was driving our gal about 3 months ago out in the middle of nowhere in the dark in devon and no phone signal. and she heard a load bang and then nothing , you could have the car running and put it into any gear without using the clutch. Got it towed to garage and found out the next day that the clutch had just exploded clutch springs everywhere. I know you said you had a new clutch fitted already but it could be a faulty one sorry! -
Door Block In Movement
HalfPint replied to joczeze's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
On the central locking module, press adaption (10) on channel 3 and set bit to 1=on to lock car at 15km/h. To unlock the car at removal of ignition key change channel 4 to 1=on. -

Rear Light Cluster And Other Bits.
HalfPint replied to lydanial's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Where abouts do you live. As there is a complete galaxy here in devon and his bits are cheap, i'll give him a ring and let you know. -
Two things. 1- isn't there a seperate relay that does the intermittent wiper bit 2- years ago on an old car mine stopped working and found it was the wiper motor. on the back of motor where connections are inside there was 3 connections and the intermittent one had blown. but the other two worked fine. Now in this day and age things should be made better so check relay or relay's first. have fun

I went to the breakers yesterday and they had a galaxy there i think it was a 2.8, but all i won't to know, is the abs pumps and manifold all the same on the galaxy's as he has one for

Had a bit of a dyslexic moment there. should of read pete tong and the other word was commutator. What a PLONKER RODNEY
-
I don't think it's the ignition switch because as you say it only goes peter tong when the engine is hot, so parts have expanded. Have you thought about checking the starter motor, as i had one donkeys years ago on a different ford were the commuter (the middle spinning bit) of the motor was impregnated with dust from the brushes causing a dead section. pulled apart and cleaned fullly and was fine from then on. You can only try can't you.
-
Another thing you could try is as your vehicle is an auto. as you turn the key and nothing happens try wriggling the auto gear shift slightly as there is an inhibitor switch to stop you starting the vehicle in gear. As you normally start the vehicle in park try puttting it in neutral and starting the car. Otherwise check the power relays you may have a lazy relay. try giving them all a tap as you turn the vehicle over if it suddenly turns over you will just have to narrow it down till you find the offending bugger.

No sorry wish it was that simple. Mine had a recall years ago to change the brake res cap as water was supposedly getting in there and i think it was about 6 months later the abs and brake lights came on and since then no one has been able to sort it out and i'm not letting freuds get hold of it. I may as well just sign the cheques in me cheque book and hand it over to them. As i said before i've had shops check it and they say they sensors are fine but now i'm starting to doubt them all. I'm even thinking of buying the 4 and replacing them?

you could try this site just give them a ring http://www.flatlander-ipp.co.uk/supertech/...ves-mazda.shtml

frauds checked it years ago so has volks wagons on there machines and other garages around my way. the codes that they keep getting ain't anything to do with the abs rings or the sensors they have all been checked and the codes that they got was either the pump or manifold or both. the problem is this is the '96 model and i've had the wiring break in the doors for the windows and the reversing light wiring broke in the tailgate could there be wiring somewhere to bring up the abs fault. it goe's off when the car is started up and as you hit 18 mph then the two lights come on together. I've even pulled apart the brake res cap off just now and cleaned up the contacts and the metal washer but still the same. please help me. paul.....

Morning jason Just found your question on abs lights. Have you sorted it out now. What was the problem in the end. As mine has gone about four years ago all the cv rings and sensors are fine they think its either the abs pump or the abs valve or both and the cost five hundred pound each. please reply to paulramsay69@btinternet.com thanks halfpint

Thanks for all the replies i'm going to loook around for a complete diesal gal and then go from there.

Can i please have all your experiance with this one. I have a '96 2.0litre petrol galaxy with 108.000 miles on the clock and still going strong just a bit sluggish up hills. Anyway i want to put a diesal lump in there. Can you please advise on what lump to get with gearbox as well. can i get a six speed box in there And what other bits and bobs will i need to finish the job. And what would the power difference be. Will it make my eyeballs bleed Please help me out Happy new year

Just to let you know that i have sorted it out. I read the threads in the early hours of this morning i.e at about 1.30am and one of them said it was relay 30. so afterwork today i pulled out relay 30 and pulled it apart and put relay back in and turned on ignition and nothing happened, i then pushed in the relay whilst turning the key and it fired up. as sooon as i let it go it stopped i went to vw dealer and brought a new one for
