I have identified a leek in my water pump, I have the part and 2 belts and am considering installing it myself. I have read people spending up to 14 hours on this. I can set aside a day and think this should do it but dont want to overun. Anyone got any tips on tools and techniques to be prepared?

With Vagcat down considering getting TIS anyone know where to get it?

Hi there have a check on your front carpets see if there wet may be heater matrix? If not is it building up a lot of pressure? if you leave the cap off with engine running can you see any air bubbles or is the coolant pumping out the filler? How's the colour of the engine oil should be black, any milkyness would indicate water in the oil. See how you get on :) Oil is black, will check carpets thanks for the lead

Role Bar Links Special Tool
new nige replied to new nige's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
A normal allen key is all thats needed, pops in the end of the thread. nice one! tricky to work with a torque rench though insert on the drive side. -
Got new role bar drop links, the old ones had opposing flats to resist turning when installing, new ones (from ford) have what looks like a torque head in place of flats, anyone know what tool is needed or how you can make one up?

Just a bit of feed back i solved my turbo problem it was a split hose now replaced and working fine. thanks to all those who responded, on turbo queries and vagcom (inparticular Jayton and tdi90) this cost about

You can pick up a lead from ebay for about

Hi zorgman its 90bhp, 1998 as far as i can see there are 2 hoses that go toward the turbo that i have not mannaged to change yet, these look very suspect so am hopping its these. There is no chance of accessing these fully from above (i can feel them though) do you know if these are easily accessable when its up on ramps? Would the ecu hose cause turbo loss of power, my current thinking is hoses (excluding ecu), then N75 as i have fault code suggesting this (00575 intake manifold pressure). cheers

Got the usual turbo limp mode problem and having read fault codes am prity sure its Vacum Hoses or N75. I have sucessfully changed 2 of the 5 hoses but am a little unsure about which others to change, has anyone got a better diagram (i have Haynes) of which hoses are of interest? cheers

Thanks Jayton, Vagcom worked fine first time in vista and then fell over, adjusting settings as per your vista suggestions sorted it and its now up and running on demand ;) . I was going to have a look at the hoses, general turbo hoses does anyone know if these are all the same diameter and can they be cut from a stock length? if so anyone know the specification?

Right this is clever stuff ;) , got my fault cods 65535 Internal Control Module Memory Error 35-10 Intermittent 00575 17-10 Please Register/activate-intermittant 17978 P1670 35-10 Please Register/activate-intermittant I seem to have the classic turbo cutting out at CIRCA 2500 RPM with associated loss of power. Cross referencing the code of interest (00575) to Ross Tech suggests 3 possibilities all N75 or hose related. Is it reasonable to now rule out all other sensors and poke about with hoses and N75 valve? If you start the engin with the interface connected will this bugger the interface as it dosnt seem to work now though this seems software dirven as the interface tests ok.

Thankyou, this application now loads on my work machine (unlike USB version), i have read various com port configutrations so confident to get up and running cheers

Right, got the lead which came with shareware version 4.09-1, dont have much faith in this application as it is requesting VagCom.exe whch the installation dosnt seem to have come with (queried with vender) so think it may be best to start afresh and download a version from RossTech. Question, which version (seems protocol specific) is the right one?
-
Ok Jay thanks for that i'll give it a try tomorrow and let you know :) Right having looked in detail this product (cable + software

thanks jayton, will procure lead. does the software describe the fault codes or do i need to reference a code to a look up table, if so where are look up tables available.

Worth a shot anyhow! I dont have much free time but was thinking of having a go at the hoses myself. Is there any guidance with photos out there you know of? Is it as simple as taking them off cutting new to size and sticking them back on?

Hi new here not sure if i am in the right place My 1998 1.9 TDI (VD25921) has some kind of turbo problem, very slow on motorways (not bad arround town) and seems to cease accelerating at 3000 rpm ish. Disconnected the MAF and seemed to run worse. Put it into fords for a diagnosis and they recon its 1) Hoses (accepted) quoted
