What a wuss...... If the bolt head is undamaged and the socket is a good tight fit and the socket is close to the bar (i.e. not on a long extension) then stand on the end of the bar or If its a steel wheel (don't do this with an alloy) - apply heat to the bolt - avoid the wheel. The bolt should expand and loosen. or Take it to your local kwik fit or other tyre centre and let them do it with their air tools. (If its cross threaded none of the above will work......) Thankyou i will put my weight behind it, seemed a bit tight when the breaker bar was flexing.

Hello, Haynes says the car needs to be level to do the oil change. However the drain pug looks to be at its lowest when the front axle is elevated on ramps. Question is it ok to change the oil with just the front axle elevated?

Electric Windows Problem
new nige replied to javelin's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I can get the outer threaded part on when the door is still hung but when you clip it back on the the main connector it wont turn. Has anyone else found this? I seem so close and dont really want to take the door off if i can avoid it, a bit of confidence would be nice, feed up with stuff breaking. nige -
Automatic Central Locking
new nige replied to new nige's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
yes good advice -
Today the wife put the baby in the car and gave her the keys to play with, helpfully our 2 year old shut all of the doors. The car (1998 Gear x AHU MK1 with ECU behind dash) seems to have an automatic door lock function and locks all the doors after 1 min or so of inactivity. This resulted in baby being locked in car and me rushing back from work with the spare. Question can you disable this auto lock feature with vcds lite?

Galaxy 2002 Aux Heater Module Address

believe 18 is normal -
As a separate question, anyone know how the previous owner might electrically isolate the heater? Never heard it fire up? Thermister in front of bulkhead operates ok however relevant fuses are not clear, (note mk 1) yet to check for voltage so could be a knackered unit. Also still don

i think i will have a go at refurbishment, parts dealer local, and cant throw money away, more curious than anything with such an old car! Like to get it going though. There are some interesting bench tests on youtube fyi. I will work out the wireing and get all the screws out. Do i remember you saying how much a gasket kit was?

will remove and try a glow plug and see how we get on. cheers

Thank you for your comprehensive response, this clears up a few loose ends before I attack. The previous owner has short circuited the heater coolant pipes thus bypassing the heater. When I got the car it had a water leak which I located to the water pump, now changed and leak solved. I assume the previous owner had a glow plug failure or assumed the rear heater matrix was the leak problem. I intend to drop and refurbish the heater which should be easy as it has been short circuited from the coolant system. I have checked fuse 12 as would have expected previous owner to cut power to the heater but this seems present. I will keep you posted as things progress, probably slowly. Can you see any problems with removing it for several weeks? Also can i test it without water pipes reconnected presumably it won

I have a separate thread with a few MK 1 Aux heater queries, but my main question is clarification that the mk 1 dosnt have a control module to communicate with vagcom either. Can anyone confirm.

i read that to, supprising that the main water pump (same as vw golf) has the umf to circualate that far.
