hello i am scrapping my Gal and want to get the 3/4 tank of fuel out, i have tried syphoning from the filler and the fuel filter any one know how best to connect a hose to drain or syphon? 1997

Grinding When Changing Down Into First

garage say i need a new gearbox, having looked on the forum the gear selector bolt and slipping cables comes up alot. can anyone enlighten me how i check the cables? -
Today a grinding noise has developed on my mk 1 90 AHU 1.9 tdi 150k. When you drop down into first it grinds quit badly, no problem in any other gear, no apparant other problems, once engaged seems fine. Its been running well recently apart from heater matrix went last month. Gear box oil was checked 5-10k ago and was fine. Is this most likely the clutch if so how can i check?

Leaking Heater Matrix

mine was leaking for 3 years, it burst on the M11 last week sprayed coolant over my feet, engin went in to the red but didnt do any damage as i cought it quickly. AA relay home. Got 2 quotes mechanic quoted 6.5 hours plus part, it took him much longer than expected but he honered his price -

what car is it? if mk1 check vagcom, if 00575 check hoses, possibly small hose in ecu ref previous posts.

If its a mk1, the map sensor is on the ecu circuit board, have you replaced the manifold tube that runs from the manifold nipple to the ecu nipple AND the tube inside the ecu between the sensor and the internal nipple on the box? if not serch on here and there are detailed descriptions of how to do this, fiddely but saved mine and others 00575 code on a mk 1

Whats This Loose Gaiter?

hello Mirez, its a manual AHU 1997, i have been looking and think its the inner CV joint, still seemed greased inside gaiter. How tricky is this? Looking at haynes its 2 spanners, wheel off, role links off, sensors off etc This looks quite involved to me (my role bar links needed hacksawing off last time i was in the area and it took 2 hours each side). I may not have time to tackle it prior to MOT, any estimate on reasonable time allowance would be appreciated. I assume parts are just the gaiter kit (assuming shafts are ok any thoughts? nige -

Haynes says my Galaxy mk1 needs to have the front and back jacked up to check my gear box oil, it said the same about draining the engin oil but this actually seems to be be manufactured with the low spot on the front. Can you check gear box oil just by ramping up the front?

not sure of the vehicle but there is a faults reported with a cover vibrating and cutting the map hose on some models, i believe it suggests re routing. -

Can anyone scan measuring block 10 on an AHU engin and advise what typical barametric pressure reading they get? -
Vag com measuring blocks says my barametric pressure is constant at about 695.0mb (whilst driving up and down a few hills)should this not be around 1000mb and change even slightly whilst driving up and down a few hills?

Been out tonight measuring blocks, I note that my barometric pressure reading is constant and not around 1000mb as one might expect. Does anyone know if this is right? Extract of log file below. i didnt tie on any hoses on just push fitted, others suggested this was ok, havent found any loose -
I have been in this situation for a year or so, only hose left is inside the ECU, but not had time to change it yet, lots of tdi forumns point to this being linked to 65535 but i find it hard to believe as this is better protected from weathering, oil etc. Good luck
