  1. All the 1.9 Diesels share the same bottom end, the block, sump, crank etc are all the same. It may be easier to source a good bottom end and mate it up to what you have.
  2. Got a link or auction number?
  3. Iwas (and still am) looking into getting the heater to come on on a timer. It will need several modifications though. Hence my request for an old heater....
  4. The PAS belt drives the water pump too btw, so don't go over tightening it, you will overload the rear bush on the water pump.
  5. To change the tensioner pulley? You pop the belt off, prise the cover off the back of the tensioner pulley and unbolt. Replace in reverse of above. If you buy the new pulley all will become clear. They are about
  6. No, just the one, on the top of the belt.
  7. Well ask for the old one back from them too. I will have it for testing a few things if you don't mind! I will pay for the postage etc.
  8. If the glow plug was not working the heater would not run at all. The early TDis the heater came on a sub 4 degrees, so that is fine too. The heater has two heat output settings, once the engine is over 70 deg or so it goes onto low output. If I have my blowers going full blast on full hot the engine never gets fully hot.
  9. I would expect that kind of price if it was a chain as the engine has to come out. But it is not, it is a belt and it is straight forwards to do if you buy a few specialist tools.
  10. Yes, yours should be every 4 years or 40,000 miles.
  11. Simple answer, get the service done at a VW dealer then, it won't effect the warranty or resale value.
  12. Cheers dude, thats them on my pre-summer list!
  13. It is not safe to drive with no brake lights. This is clearly an undocumented safety feature! :D :D
  14. Note that they are handed, and be sure that you buy the correct one for the side it is needed on.
  15. Well it does sound drop-link orientated to me! I know you changed them 5 months ago, but I did mine in August and the driver's side one is knocking a little already. I swear it is the amount of speed humps round here!
  16. Wish I could tell you. I downloaded one (took five days) and it did not work.....
  17. Get a decent set of locking nuts like McGard (sic) and have a tyre fitting place zip the old ones off.
  18. Thankfully the only time I get close to W Grosse is when I am buying parts!
  19. Where is this fuse box? I don't even know where it is! Edit: I don't think my Alhambra has one. TIS says back LH side of the engine compartment.
  20. Part number 7D0 963 319 for yours. They are still available, if the parts guy says they have changed, ask him to try to order the number I have post.
  21. lol, just read this.... Great minds think alike does that mean I'm now reaching your standard MM ? Regards - JB Cool, how low can you go? Seriously though, this is what we do when we take the crank nuts off of our Astra GTEs and they are a hernia inducing 250Nm and 90 degrees.
  22. What quality was the belt though! lol!
  23. Here you go! A new tensioner is
  24. Perhaps not but the original post was about a 1997 TDi
