  1. Ban him from driving it! It is what a bloke would do if the boot was on the other foot.
  2. Try a 9" angle grinder, that will get the tar off!
  3. In this weather the slow heat up and lack of booster heater go hand in hand. There are quite a few people who have covered booster heater problems in some detail as you have found. You can get white smoke when the booster heater starts or if it is turned off soon after starting. I would give it a longer running time and see if the smoke clears. It could be just fuel that was unburnt and sitting inside.
  4. On mine I have the blanking plates but no wires or connectors, it seems to be pot-luck on some models whether they are or are not there.
  5. It would be less hassle and expense to sell your car and buy another that has it.
  6. I bought one off eBay to do just that and then found I had none of the plugs. I did not take the dash apart to look though.
  7. The fuel lines are held on by a couple of hose clips and a U shaped clip thingy..... Make sure you don't lose the rubber O ring on the bit that is held in with the U clip thingy... Then just crank it over until it starts.
  8. It should be a straight swap, but bleed the coolant system before plugging it in. If you clamp the coolant hoses to it you won't loose much coolant.
  9. I think the suggestion is that you a technically a thief because the TIS is copyright.
  10. Yes, I never thought of that, but would it be long enough for whatever is igniting the fuel to cool down? That said, it can't be ruled out. Martin, does it always go out at the sameish time?
  11. There must be something that continues to glow. If it is not the gauze then it must be the tip of the glow plug or the flame sensor or something. Other than that I am all out of ideas.
  12. VR6 has, hang around, he will pop up like a bad penny.....
  13. lol, he won't touch your car because it's a diesel! If you want your car scanned with VAG-COM then post your county, you never know there may be someone who can help.
  14. In any case he wanted a Philips code and the software that is about can not do them. I personally don't think a thief would come on here looking for a code though.
  15. The software is everywhere, a search on the internet in the right place will show thousands of copies you can download. It is also on sale on eBay for a few pounds. In addition you can pay for a code service directly on the net without even downloading anything. Whilst it would be tempting to suggest that you come down off of your high horse, I fear it is too late. As far as radio codes go, the stable door was left open a long time ago and the horse has long since bolted and gone.
  16. Do the side lights work with the engine off? There is no fail for them staying on when the ignition is on. The only issue is if you have dim-dip lights which operates the main lights at low power when the engine is running and the side lights are switched on, but Galaxies don't have them.
  17. And the ECU determines how much fuel to put in using the COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENDER
  18. Yours won't have a red key. It needs programed by the dealer or someone with the right hardware. And the remote fobs both need programed one after the other, not the keys.
  19. The software to do this is everywhere and there are services offering this for a few pounds on the internet so I see no harm in letting you know the code. You will need to post your radio's serial number & model.
  20. OK, well there are two sizes, both are capless and pull out of the holder quiet easy and should be available from any car accessory shop. The larger of the two bulbs is 4 watt and the smaller bulb for the warning lights are 0.5watt except the one for the high beam warning, I have no idea what wattage it is.
  21. I have a spare dash and will look in a few minutes....
  22. http://www.bigtrucker.co.uk/files/heater.pdf
  23. No. The red key was only supplied with very early models. You have the complete set of keys. Have you got a 4 digit key programing code in your vehicle pack?
  24. When you program the remote fobs you need to do them all at once as programing clears the previous fobs. Does the key you bought have a transponder chip? If so you will need to have the dealer or a specalist locksmith program it to the car. If it does not have the chip then you need to get a chip from somewhere, put it in the key and then get it programmed to the car.
