Sealey Sx400 Tool For Alternator Pulley

Try Millfield Autos in Peterborough 01733 557547 , open through the bank holiday and pretty reasonable on most things, I'm off to get a pollen filter in the morning ( -
Hi Tone, I should imagine that these are temperature sensors on the back of the thermostat housing ( see Vanburst's good faq on this - http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...amp;#entry81317 ) Better wait for Sepulchrave to give you directions but you must surely need to be looking nearer the flywheel housing, lower and further in! Spitfire - have you got a photo of the location of your 'fix' -
Hi, Just a quick one - does anyone know/have experience of putting a replacement set of seat belts from Mk1 in to a Mk 2 Galaxy? My tan coloured Mk2 belts are really tatty and it seems far easier to get hold of a set of black Mk1 belts from breaker and replace the lot. I will experiment with ones out of my T-reg in the morning if no one knows (although I've noticed the part number on my rear most belts only differs with the first part of the part number - 7M3 in the Mk2 and 7M0 in the Mk1. Galaxy 2.0 Petrol 1995
frogeye replied to Kevin Allen's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi Kev Whats the LED in the drivers door showing (ie is it flashing?) when all this is happening. May be Relay 30 playing up - excellent link for this in the FAQ section. The only major issue I had with my N-reg 2.0l was a faulty MAF sensor, just unplug it and see it things improve. Frogeye -
Hi, I had this problem on my T reg 2.3 Auto and it gave me problems with my gear selection until I figures out that it was the switch playing up. A squirt of WD40 on the shaft of the switch (at top of pedal) and 2-3 years later is still working faultlessly. Frogeye

Interior Lights On 2.8 V6 2001
frogeye replied to frogeye's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Thanks for your help Mr T. I did a bit more wresting and spotted the ribbon copper strip thingy bolted to an earth wire on a stud behind the light fitting - it all seemed to be in order. As I mentioned in my other (now clearly related) post, found the cause - fuse 53 had blown Like a muppet, I had tested across the fuse with it still in its holder - thought I had proved its continuity and discounted it. It wasn't until later a colleague pointed out my ineptitude that I revisited my fuses removing them all one by one and testing them across the 'legs', found that I had a blown fuse. Replaced with 10A fuse and was suddenly blinded by half a dozen interior lights I ended up having the take all the front trim off around the fuses to get to fuses 51 -53 as they are a bugger to remove without doing this - as I felt that I was looking for a loose relay or something I was on my was to the back of the fuse board in any case. My fuse information card on the back of the cover indicated that the lights shared a fuse with the central locking so I had already spent a fair while under the passenger seat checking the level of dampness/corrosion under there as it has clearly had some kind of water exposure previously. Many thanks for your input - sorry to have taken the forums time with something so minor, especially when I know I have several major issues to deal with in the coming weeks/months. Regards Frogeye -
Spot on Big Kev. This was related to my interior light problem (see other post), Fuse 53 had blown and, like a muppet, I had tested across the fuse with it still in its holder - thought I had proved its continuity and discounted it. It wasn't until later a colleague pointed out my ineptitude that I revisited my fuses removing them all one by one and testing them across the 'legs', found that I had a blown fuse. Replaced with 10A fuse, rechecked with Vag.com and clear fault code (I think that this is possible with 409.1 RadioTwo - but I am starting to doubt everything that comes out of my head/mouth/keyboard now!) Hooray! Thanks all for your help. Frogeye

Hello, I'm struggling to understand a fault code that won't clear with my vag.com on my Mk2 2.8 V6 Gal. I'm wondering if it is related to my intermittant immobilizer issues. VAG-COM Version: Release 409.1-US Control Module Part Number: 7M3 962 258 M Component and/or Version: Multifunkt.Einh 0001 Software Coding: 04097 Work Shop Code: WSC 00020 1 Fault Found: 00989 - Fuse for Consumption Cut-Off (S157) 37-00 - Faulty Again, any insight would be gratefully received. Interior Lights On 2.8 V6 2001
frogeye replied to frogeye's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Thanks Mr T I have struggled to see too much through the gap in the header after removing the light fitting.. however the windscreen was replaced before I bought the car (although the interior lights had been working since then). I'm not too sure how I can check the earthing strap 'remotely' but the heated screen seems to work as the revs dip when I switch it on. What was the link between the screen earth strap and the lights - some kind of short? Regards Frogeye -
Hi, Recently all my interior lights have stopped working in my 2.8 V6 Gal. I get a message on the dash when which ever door opens but no lights and the switches on the lights themselves don't do anything either. I have checked all the fuses in the fuse board (below steering wheel) and they are all fine (with multimeter) Could anyone suggest where to look next. Thanks in anticipation, Frogeye

Nige, Thanks for the info, all I need now is to find the motivation to do something about it - it doesn't look likely that we'll be too hot in the car for another year or so! Regards, Frogeye

Hi Nige, I would be interested to hear how much you end up paying with SAC as I'm not too from Coventry and had been tempted to go down the 'no fix no pay' kwik fit route. Thanks, Frogeye

Hi Fraser, I had this same set of problems with my 2.8 V6 when I bought it, after a session with a multimeter eventually found that it was a 3A fuse in the engine bay. It was in lttle black box in front of the battery, where all your heavy duty wiring goes in, along side two 30A fuses (I actually ended up shoving in a 5A fuse as had no 3A at the time .. mental note to correct that later on!). And hey presto, one tiny fuse and the whole lot sorted! I think that this fuse is for the CAN bus (?) some sort of electrical wizardry that controls a range of stuff, but I'm sure there are other far more informed forum members who could tell you better. Good luck Frogeye

Four Slow Flashes Of The Door Led
frogeye posted a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I've got a whole host of electrical gremlins with my 2001 V6, it obviously has been through some kind of trauma before I had the 'fortune' to win it on Ebay. Whilst I have a had a go with Vag.com, the only recurrent engine fault code seems to be the coolant sensor -- I'm going to try attaching a log file of a 5 minute journey which both the coolant sensor and o2 sensor seem to give faulty readings (for those technical enthusiasts). If a sensor is giving correct readings one second (eg 75C) and then following second something entirely different (eg -40C) is that likely to be the sensor itself or the connection circuitry. I can see myself spending hundreds chasing my tail! Anyway, I noticed the door led doing four slow flashes last night and wondered if any one has a list of what the door led indicators actually are showing. Sorry, but there may be a few more posts coming regarding my 2.8 V6, I'll try to not flood the forum. Frogeye ps I don't seem to be able to upload a csv file, I'll try posting a web link later. -
2.8 V6 Which Petrol Do You Use 95 Or 98 Ron?

Hi, Thanks for the info. I'll see how the price compares when I next fill up and will probably give it a go. -
Robtoy, I had a bit of a dig around this morning and found that the other relay I changed was 167 (well that is what is stamped on the back). Also found my receipt from Frauds, with the two relays on: F7203442 Relay Assy - Starter

Hi Donna, I'm with Steven on this one. Had the same thing with my 2.3 auto this time last year. After being mucked about by the local garage for week after week, towed the car home, replaced relay 30 and had the car back on the road the same morning. Is your immobiliser light in the drivers door flashing rapidly? You may have a bit of luck by shoving your hand up behind the fuse board and give the relay section a bit of a rattle and squeeze.. this seemed to sort my problem out, but I went ahead and changed both relays (can't remember the other one) as I had already bought replacements (about

Does The 'plastic Key' Count As A Second?
frogeye replied to frogeye's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
It suddenly dawned on me that I should just try starting the car with the plastic key, and sure enough no luck. First two attempts engine not turning over, third attempt did turn over a fire and ran for a second or so before cutting out. The immobiliser light in the drivers door lit solid for the first couple of seconds and then flashed rapidly.... I guess this means no chip inside my plastic key after all. I'll have to double check the PATS faq, but I'm pretty sure that if you don't have two transponder keys your buggered... I guess I can't present the same one twice or hold the metal key next to the ignition whilst using the plastic one. I presume the system must detect two different but recognised transponder chips in order to open the program mode. I think I'm going to write a letter to the two lots of previous owners in the log book and tempt them with a stamped addressed envelope and the promise of a
