Hi - as per the title, I have a rear, near-side door lock which is not operating (latch/unlatch) on first/second press of the fob. It does not feel overly-stiff compared to the other doors, but I can see the locking handle is only moving maybe 1/2 way in/out with central control. I have had the trim off and greased the cable as much as I can get to, but it only improved a little. I will try again and this time disconnect the latch from the exterior handle (to remove out of door completely, but I am not sure what else might be sticking right now - could the solenoid be at fault and can it be cleaned/oiled? Thanks. Btw - new clutch/DMF/hydraulic actuator a couple of weeks back, £900. Won't use Mr Clutch again as they left the engine mounts loose - not ideal.

Hi - I can find 'TMC options' in the settings, but nothing happens when I push the button.ie as if there is no choice to turn on/off. It drives me crazy when the 'this channel does not support TMC..' message pops up when surfing around the channels.Thanks.

Travelpilot Ex Broken Screen / Won't Turn Off?
djacks42 replied to djacks42's topic in MKIII Technical section
Fixed it - took fuse out and it was fine. Might have some kind of defence mode against 10yr old vandals. -
Hi - just got home to find my daughter had decided to trace her name on the LCD screen and now it is not showing any text and dimly lit after key is removed. Any ideas? Maybe I should take fuse out or disconnect battery - although that would then ask for the pin which I might not be able to see.

Should I Replace My Mkiii Due To Clutch Problem
djacks42 replied to dellybeanhead's topic in MKIII Technical section
I forgot to report back from when I took it to the dealer. They are unauthorised to investigate the issue based on just the 'smell' sympton, as Ford have issued a TIB (bulletin). I read it myself and it is ELV (end of life recyling) replacement materials in the clutch that give off the smell - common x-carline. (I work at Ford so I know about this stuff anyway). This does not mean that there isn't an underlying issue in itself though. As soon as there is any slippage/judder, I will take it back, but no problems so far. -
Should I Replace My Mkiii Due To Clutch Problem
djacks42 replied to dellybeanhead's topic in MKIII Technical section
Our MK3 1.8 (5600miles)is at the dealer for this exact same issue - clutch burn. It happened on Wednesday in the hot weather in normal stop/start traffic. I am interested to know of any software (low end torque callibration I assume) upgrades that the previous poster mentioned? Either way, I'll report back later. -
Any experience of a whiney cat-pre-warmer-thingy? (You know - the exhaust gas recirc pump to left of battery). It comes on briefly for cold starts and has started protesting a bit. Probably bearing or maybe small air leak at a guess. Replacement cost looks dire - can they be opened up and lubed? (I'm edging closer and closer to a Previa replacement next yr to match my Avensis at this rate).

I got mine tinted last night by that mobile chap I mentioned earlier. Nice little business he's got going there actually. He's done a lovely job (door trim off etc) and it's really makes a difference. Med-smoke on fronts and dark smokes on rears. I know the frt's are just over legal, but I don't see the point of the lgt smoke.
-
Just use the rears with the reverse-light feed as normal, and have the fronts on a manual switch in one of the blanked-off dash switch holes.

djacks42 replied to maglite's topic in Questions about the Ford Galaxy
Maglite - his ebay link says it's in v good condition with no cracks or damage - which is why I bid on it. I should have read this first, but are you saying it's cracked all over? -

Maglite - if your mate's mate is breaking his Gal, then I would be very interested to buy that rear tailgate light panel from him if you don't want it. (Perhaps you could email me his contact details?) I am not bothered about the chrome bit either way - mine is just standard. I have been searching the online breakers for ages but no luck. Mine's busted in opposite corners. ps. like your windows. I am getting dk-smoke/lgt-smokes next week. -
Where To Install Cd Changer
djacks42 replied to faded-fish's topic in I.C.E (In Car Entertainment) Discussion
You shouldn't have to remove the seat at all. I just have cut up padded freezer bag to wedge it in. Leave a bit of slack in the lead so you can pull it out easy. Feed the lead out from the lhs front of the seat, across under the carpet to the door sill trim, under and across the dash into centre console. 10 min job and looks neat. -

My Blaupunkt 10-changer sits in the cubby hole under the driver seat also - frees up rear cubby. -

Stalling At Junctions
djacks42 replied to djacks42's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Okay - quick update... Having solved a hanging-revs problem last year with a squirt of WD40 in the ICV, I gave it a another good clean out this time, and then a second time with carb cleaner which leaves no residue. Neither worked. Yesterday I replaced the valve and hey presto, jobs a good 'un. Nice, because I can return the sparks, TPS, and lambda sensor I had ready to swap out. -

No ferrets - but it would give me an excuse to off the neighbour's cat. I've just taken the van out for a spin with the MAF unplugged - still stalls reliably.. braking, clutch down in 3-to-2 changes approaching roundabouts. What to check next - help!! Got to hand the motor back to the missus next week as she goes on maternity leave.. don't think she'll cope with the emergency ignition twists.
