  1. Jammed heater valve or airlock in system. Have you taken it for a long run to get water/coolant nice and hot, then felt the heater pipes (or squeezed them to see if they contain air)?
  2. Phone your insurance company first and ask them if they will clear you to use lower speed rated tyres, based on the fact that the car will not exceed their rated max speed anyway. If OK, get them to confirm in writing, OR write to them confirming details of your telecon. In principal there is no problem but may also depend on construction and use legislation and vehicle homologation regulations.
  3. Wasn't a dispute over a certain brand of choccie bar, by any chance, was it?
  4. Steering wheel with radio controls is about
  5. Sorry, cannot help as I don't know. Anyone working for a dealer out there? Can you confirm what that part number is for?
  6. Ford SD or VW spec 505.01 or Castrol 505.01
  7. Not sure, but I believe that VAG-COM is the way to do it.
  8. ..and emulsifiers/removal agents in plastic mouldings. Get a good glass cleaner (eg Autoglym's fast glass, Mr Muscle domestic glass window cleaner - or some contact lens cleaning fluid) and give the inside of all your windows a thorough clean. You will be surprised at how it stops misting up from happening so soon.
  9. How long did the smoke last? If only for a few seconds then everything is working normally.
  10. The standard factory-fit ones can be re-programmed by the dealer if you have a towbar fitted (and depending on the plate, you may not need to get them re-programmed). After-market ones - well, you will need to read the instructions; are Woolworths still selling their kit at around
  11. No, but you may need to top up a little afterwards. If you're really lucky you will only loose a few drops.
  12. Number 3 please, Bob (better than asking for a "P" please, Bob (onto an electric fence  B) B) ) B) I still haunt the Renault Scenic forum from time to time
  13. Alternatively - No, I'm a handyman - I make a bolt for the door, not a bolt fot the neck
  14. So that's what I've been doing wrong all these years
  15. Does he mean me???
  16. Tried making one out of ceramics but it broke - a truly shatering experience  Wood and tape not very good for security devices unfortunately.
  17. FYI - about 5 years ago I ended up changing the alternator on my parents' 1974 Volvo. All the bolts undid with no extra undue effort, having never previously been loosened - not bad eh, and shows that if the correct materials/plating are used, threaded items will not seize in place.
  18. Well, that shows you how long it is since I've had a starter jam
  19. Jammed starter - if the lights dimmed when you turned the key, it implies that the starter solenoid is operating and that the starter is drawing the current. Try sticking it in reverse, taking handbrake off and try to push it. This may free the starter, if not, try hitting the starte gently with a hammer or screwdriver. Starter may have "other" end exposed with a square or hex shaft projecting - try sticking a spanner on it and trying to move it. Let us know how you get on.
  20. The answers is somewhere on the Forum, can't remember how to do it off the top of my head. Try a search?
  21. How sad. Personally I find it easier to park my Galaxy than the Renault Scenic or Rover 820 I had previously. Parking sensors make it so easy! Did you know that the Galaxy is shorter than all versions of the current Mondeo? Better not get one of those!
  22. Trade it in for a later model where everything works at once
  23. I think we can understand what you mean! Glad it went well and that you are pleased with your work on the car..
