  1. Well, funny you should say that ... from a level surface from which you climb up steps to drop your "stuff" into the giant bins, they are building an elevated "balcony" onto which you drive, so you just drop your stuff into the container bins (ie they raise the "roadway" so it will be level with the top of the bins). 6 months does seem very excessive though .....
  2. I declare this thread well and truly hijacked !!! Back to topic - I cannot take my Gal to the local tip as it is closed for 6 months for rebuilding. Local council is offering no alternative; suggests we use the main Borough Council tip around 15 miles away .. wow that is so environmentally unsound ! Oh, and we don't get a reduction in council tax for the loss of this amenity either.
  3. I thought it was Pugh, Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble, Grubb ?? Pugh and Pugh were brothers IIRC
  4. you mean just that it won't resume? You can reset it and it is OK, or not ?
  5. I'm using firefox and the livechat "button" appears through the small photos of Galaxys. I have also found a somewhat more exciting chatroom to visit ... to which I am becoming addicted (and it's not motoring related although vehicles do sometimes get discussed there,. along with motorsports, cooking, birthday cakes etc etc )
  6. How can the wheels be a "trim" item? Trim is just that - non-essential decoration. Anyone from Fords tried to drive a car without the wheels fitted? The removable centre caps could be classified as "trim", but NOT the alloys themselves.
  7. Having almost run out in a diesel once, I don't want to risk it again - you have to bleed the air out of the pipes
  8. Chickened out last week after "please refuel now" message had been showing for about 35 miles; added 66 litres to fill to brim (supposedly 70 litre tank IIRC on Mk II)
  9. Same "problem" here; I use NW Autocentres but they don't use (cannot get) the correct oil so I take my own
  10. Congratulations from me too...but why are garages so obstructive when they surely know that the customer is right?
  11. It's only if you are going to fit it behind the front seats that you may have a problem with the a/c ducting
  12. IIRC this has been asked before and they don't fit :-(
  13. Marky - it's the same photo. In fact the boot is tidier - have to leave the bike at home otherwise I cannot fit the weekly shopping trip of food into the car, plus I now use a much smaller toolbox with only a few essentials in it
  14. You'll be in good company - my wife got 2 tickets within 24 hours from the same camera on the A30 a few years back. First we knew about it was 2 identical-looking envelopes on the doormat one Saturday morning.
  15. You're all too young! It's Jimmy and Rocky
  16. Not sure I want anyone to see what I look like - apparently I resembloe Blackadder. M-o-4 - am surprised from your derogatory comments about yourself to find that you are really very pretty (well, I like your looks, anyway)...and I recognise the buildings at Lyneham ! If I do pluck up courage I will post a small mugshot later ... meanwhile one of my favorites...
  17. Simple things to look out for: Zetec has front fog lights and front electric windows. Base model (LX) does not have front fog lights or alloys as standard. Ghia has electric windows all round and front fog lamps. Standard alloys at that age of car: Zetec 7-spoke; Ghia 5-spoke
  18. Time well spent, by the looks of it. Must have given you a bit of a scare when you unearther the problems! Wonder how many previous attempts had been made to cobble the wires together?
  19. Another excuse for me to post this ???
  20. Had that problem in my last job - took 4 years to find new job (so I stuck at the old job); depends on your skills and the local job market. Not many jobs in manufacturing QA in Surrey/Hants area, hence the long wait (but it was worth it..). Took a pay cut but am mentally much better off in my new role
  21. Mazda 5 is much smaller. The Mazda MPV is OK, not as good to drive and only available used but not many about. There is a new Sedona about to be launched in the UK, but personally I wouldn't have it - the new Ford S-max looks a better bet (the new Galaxy will be HUGE inside and out - over 5 metres long)
  22. The Audi RS ones look best IMHO (something like www.roachford wheels); of the above, I prefer the Scirroco ones
  23. Looks like mum-of-4 and me need to arrange a day-trip to Brum, then. Should have arranged for a meet-up at a wheel refurbishers rather than near Stonehenge..... Now just got to use the internet, a search engine and the word "Birmingham" .....
  24. Did you take the wipers off their arms to remove the plastic trim from around the base of the windscreen, or are you doing this work from under the bonnet?
  25. Bizarely sort-of-on-topic.....had to cjeck on M12 thread sizes at work yesterday afternoon; M12 x 1.75 is the "norm", but M12 x 1.5, M12 x 1.25, M12 x 1 are all available
