  1. Thanks I was guessing it maybe some sort of ecectrical issue arround the lock. I was also hoping the locking module (I assume there is one and that it's expensive) as I think I need a new parking sensor module among many other expensive things. I was just hoping to have some notion before i went to the bother of thking the door card off.
  2. I'm no expert, but I'd be surprised if it should be much above 80. The coolant will have a higher specific capacity and bp than water obviously but It would need to stay well away from that bp. As well as seeking a better informed opinion I would check the properties of the coolant you use. They're probably all quite similar! (May be not much help)
  3. Press Lock -All doors lock except drivers - Alarm activates. then Press Open -Drrivers door locks -other doors Open - Alarm deactivates. then Press Lock again - All doors locked - Alarm deactivated. Cool Eh? To open the car a similar reverse procedure is required. Drivers door lock will turn but will not activate or deactivate locking / alarm. PS Drivers door LED does not flash.
  4. Not yet. I plan to instal mine in a friends Galaxy to check wheather or not it produces the same error first.
  5. My Mk2 1.9tdi is 6 speed - Push Down - then Top Left In other words - No
  6. May be unrelated, but worth checking this one. http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/forum/index.php/topic,3241.0.html
  7. If an after market version is not suitable PM me and I will check with my Bro in Law who fits leather interiors can remake yours. He may be able to re-leather your "item" (I was going to say Knob, but i thought you'd think I was taking the P) for a fraction of the cost.
  8. The only way I can think this may be connected, is if there is some kind of short in the instrument cluster/loom. Also does the ECU play a role in any of these things? because it seems to me that there are Gremlins in all these PD powered vehicles. The ECU would be a good home for a whole colony of Gremlins!
  9. Procedure to change the timing belt on May 2001 1.9tdi. Thanks
  10. Does anyone know if a timing belt change is covered in the TIS CD. I can't seemto find it.
  11. Heated seats if you have leather only.
  12. Couple of shots in the dark. Have you had the loom disconnected from the lights recentls. Mbe reconnected incorrectly. This can give rise to brake light switch activating the wrong bulb or shorting. I'm sure you considered this. Check for faults with locking. Faulty hazzard switch. Faulty Stalk.
  13. Sparky Paul suggests Spring ratings. Anyone know what I would need to upgrade?
  14. Thanks again Gregers, I have TIS. It doesn't have quite what I'm after.
  15. Have you got a TIS disc? It has wiring diagrams although not always easy to follow. - ebay
  16. The best way to see what you need it to take the old one off. Tou see what damage there is and how it fits together. It's straightforward. If you need any more detailed instructions let me know.
  17. Does anyone have a schematic diagram of the 1.9 tdi
  18. Does any know what the difference between the first Mk 2 and the chromed-up Mk 2 are. I can see the chrome, but were any mechanical revisions made? In another thread I have been told Spring ratings may have changed. Any one know for sure? Thanks in advance! See Creaking Front Suspension/steering
  19. Thanks again. I'm not worried. I don't mind throwing a few quid at her (I use the female form as she defies logic) to sort her out. Can I check this by visual inspection? (OMG I sound like a kerb crawler)
  20. The hose I was refering to is the one at the back of the EGR valve which opens the throat. When I appiied a vacuum to the pipe at the top which is I presume the one you mean there was a small movement inside. I may be confusing people here as I' not that clear on the hose names etc. PS I am very grateful for everyone's help by the way. If I can get to the bottom of my woes I'll get my mechanic to sort it out properly, but I can't afford to pay him for experimenting! At that point I'll take your good advise about the exhaust.
  21. When I first noticed it, the car had done a whole 50k !! The other Gal had about 60k. After 8 years I'm still only @ 68k
  22. It occurs to me that there may be no vacuum in the pipe which closes the valve. Anyone any thoughts?
  23. Update EGR removed cleaned - about 3mm of gunk removed. Managed to break the lower flange with third bolt hole. I think it it was fractured before I got to it as it broke without much movement. Anyway, re-assembled (with only 2 bolts). Couldn't wait to drive my "new" car. Result? - No different. Woops forgot to connect the hose which works the valve. Reconnected - really excited - result? Better, but not much. Tick over better but still chugs under light load, and fuel consumption still poor. All in all 10% improvement at best.
  24. 1. I have same issue since new. I' told this is normal. I have my boubts. 2. Chaek fuse. Located @ right knee. If OK then check connection to filiment. 3. May be related to 4. and may indicate damage there. Check strap damaged? or spring. Is motor damaged or is wiring loom damaged? Try fleabay or breaker. If not VW are normally cheaper than Ford. 5. AirCon? Could be simple or may cost something in the region of a new car if my exp was anything to go by. To find out you need to have it looked by someone who knows AirCon, not necessarilay a Fraud Stealer. 6. How well do you want them disguised? Like new? -> Good body shop. I the patches are small -> rub off loose material and treat with a rust eater. Get a touch-up brush from a motor factor and tidy. Google for detailed and various answers for AirCon + Paint. Hope this was some help.
