  1. Not quick enough mate .....plus my link works... :o Bugger ^_^
  2. http://www.seatleonsport.it/Manuali%20e%20...ri%20VagCom.pdf Here are some. You can google them too. Most of them are out there. ^_^
  3. VAG part number is 7M3959855 May be a little cheaper from VW. ^_^
  4. :( I still have my lack of power. P1556 Could this be related? I have no idea where this is comming from. Helpppp :)
  5. Yep I know this thread is dead now, but just to clarify, my last post was meant to read 25Nm and 10Nm respectively
  6. "Despite everything you read on here, not every galaxy has problems." I wonder what colour that one is
  7. How does one check the timing on VagCom. I'm using version 409. Thanks
  8. Conclusion - JohnR 10/10 Several wires cut in door loom inside the rubber boot between the A pillar and door, and more significantly a broken wire. Thanks everyone for your help. :D By the way if anyone is going the look at the loom inside the rubber boot buy lots of BandAids ;) :( :D
  9. The car will start, but stop straight away.
  10. My filter cap (original AUY code engine) says Nm! Thats tight!!! You'd be pretty strong to do that by hand, I'd be doing well to do Nm. Mind you, I wont be nistaken for Arnie. ;)
  11. Keith - thank you for that. You're in a similar spot as myself. If you come up with anything let me know. I'll do likewise. Thanks again. :angry2:
  12. Let me tell you! I needed a filter wrench! (eek, eeek) You could try some sort of cloth belt and a large screwdriver. Be careful. :angry2:
  13. Therefore gearbox - OK. Has you chum checked the clutch cable? If your clutch was gone You most likely would have noticed it slipping.
  14. If you try to start the car in gear does it jump? - is the gear engaged?
  15. Get an oil filter wrench - strap type. The Cap is supposed to be torqued to 25Nm - or put it another way VERY hand tight by the way. :angry2:
  16. Any further on? I think part of the problem is that when peops get their motor sorted they forget to return to the forums and update us with the solutions! :angry2: My P1556 persists with similar symptoms. I've replaced TMap, MAF, brake light switch, EGR. I've cleaned out the cooler flushed the engine and filled with 505.01 fully synthetic + new filter. I'm going to replace the fuel filter, just for the sake of if, but I'm certain this will make no difference. My mechanic told me he had checked vacuum hoses but I'll check them again. I'm also going to remove the cat at the W/E and check that. I checked the camshaft but to my inexperienced eyes at least it seemed like new. 1. Can any-one thee me which hoses I need to check 2. Can anyone tell me if there is a way to check if N&% is OK or not? Thanks
  17. Any difference in how it feels to drive?
  18. This is Mk2 detail from TIS. A word of warning. It's a bugger to get at the bottom bolt on the EGR. The rest is easy. Someone else may have some tips for this. If you have a four year old with small hands and bendy arms you might not have the bother I had. :( 1. Remove the air cleaner. For additional information, refer to
  19. My 01 Mk2 wipers are working but a little "juttery" when working. I wonder if this is the first sign of a similar problem? :P
  20. Update- New MAF genuine VW - just for the sake of it - No different. New EGR - chugging has stopped & black smoke is reduced. I suppose that indicates it's doing its' job better and recirculating more exhaust. I still have poor performance below about 2200 rpm and 26mpg. New MAP sensor due THursday - fingers crossed. I am assuming since I have turbo above about 2200 that the turbo unit is not at falt
  21. Have a race with someone you know has a 115 :D :P :P :P :D
  22. 2 Faults Found: 00959 - Indicator Lamp for Central Locking: Safe (K133) 29-10 - Short to Ground - Intermittent 00956 - Shareware Version. To Decode all DTCs 09-10 - Please Register/Activate - Intermittent
  23. I have the same issues with my 4/01 115bhp tdi. It produces a negative boost code - P1556. The answers you just got are common problems but not the answer to mine. I laso have lots of black smoke from my exhaust. Does this sound familiar? My car will have the turbo kick in but not until over 2000rpm. I have ordered a new MAF, MAP sensor and EGR valve. I'll let you know how I fair. Oddly enough you should check you brake light switch also!!
  24. Thonks JohnR. I assume this cured your trouble. Were you able to find the source when you loked at the loom you removed, or did you not bother?
