My auxillary heater packed up a while ago and I have just had it rebuilt by the main Erbspacher agent in Preston. When refitted temp was above 15 degrees so no action. Next day all was ok on car but still a bit warm for auxillary heater to kick in.

Day after no red display between speedo and rev counter, and no heat from heater. Blowers fine, but no heat. Its a 2002 Diesel Ghia with climate control. It was cold enough that day for auxilllary heater so maybe it cut in and took other electronics down!

Next day red display was happily showing mpg etc, but still no heat.

Garage can find no fuses obviously gone but they don't have a detailed wiring diagram.

Nothing in the way of codes when they read the VAG system.

Then on way back out of garage tonight the reversing sensors no longer bleep but squeal.

Seems to be a Gremin but hopefully someone might have some idea!

A week ago, whilst the auxillary heater was off, the central display stopped working.

Searched threads before posting, and again now.

Have checked all fuses and all are intact.

Garage could not get a suitable wiring diagram for heater circuits from their autodata - if I could find a recommended auto electrician nr Birmingham I would be there like a shot!

There' two fuses that protect the booster heater fuse 12. 25 amp is the power supply to the heater only, and fuse 3. 5 amp protects the air temperature switch circuit + other things.

Thanks to everyone who has advised and helped with this.

The plot thickens.

Garage did poor job yesterday. Seemed to look at a couple of fuses and wait for autodata to send them a diagram. They also ignored that I told them I had NO heat in car.

As was off to Edinburgh for a week's work and needed car working so took to Heartlands Ford in desperation.

They diagnosed fast..

Waterpump is leaking and failing. Not overheating, but not sending water to heater. They found other problems including CV joint gaiters split. They are replacing waterpump and then checking auxillary heater.

Had no choice as off north of border. Had to get hire car!

Lets see if they actually manage to get everything working.
