newbie Posted February 18, 2012 Report Posted February 18, 2012 (edited) Hello, thinking of buying a Seat Alhambra 1.9 tdi, which is in my local paper. I went to see the car yesterday, and despite being 51 plate, year of registration 2001, it had the mk2 interior. older dashboard and door cards, steering wheel etc, also the shape of the vechicle was the older shape. I believe they call it 7M ? As i understand seat (ford ve also) changed there design in 2000. So far it is the only one I can find being of 2001 and having the older style, Does this sound normal to anyone? I found it a bit strange. Also it is automatic, doesn't really bother me, but is there any disadvantage to having a automatic alhambra over the manual? Thanks for any help Edited February 18, 2012 by newbie Quote
zorgman Posted February 18, 2012 Report Posted February 18, 2012 wierd mk2 int mk1 exterior, you sure ie is the indicators built intonthe headlamps, is the clock a tick tock in dash or a digital on roof.autos are ok but i steer away from them unless ive got a big engine ie 3l, as far as im aware they seem to be ok tho do a search abot problems, beware of high milage as the bands wear out, also when they go wrong they cost a fortune to fix.must admit i like the alhambra front end. your right mk2 came out in 2000.keep us informed about it as im curios about this Quote
MadBaz Posted February 18, 2012 Report Posted February 18, 2012 get it checked with one of them online car check websites, there's one on auto traders site that I use, Quote
sparky Paul Posted February 25, 2012 Report Posted February 25, 2012 I've seen some old shape cars that have been registered very late, but I have never one with a mixture of mk.I and mk.II fittings. Sounds like a mk.I to me, perhaps someone 'improved' it a bit with some mk.II bits. Before you plung into an auto, I would read a few of the woeful tales of failed auto boxes on here. Because of the problems, good secondhand units are hard to find at a reasonable price. Quote
