Tailgate And Rear Wiper Trouble Shooting

Hi ive got a 1999 1.9tdi galaxy and my tailgate lock wont work properly, when i pull the exterior handle to open it just pushes the openeing part inside part of the way.

so i replaced the tailgate lock thinking it was that but to no avail?

also my rear wiper dosent work? are these related and could it just be a fuses or relay?

Wiring in the tailgate gaitor.

You need to check for broken wiring from the body to tailgate through the rubber gaiter.

Just spent 2 days replacing all the wires in the tailgate, been patching them up for years but had enough this time round, no fogs,unable to open boot remotely, fog light symbol permanently ON dash clocks, parking sensor going off continually and no reverse lights jeez lets hope it lasts a few months longer!
