Don't forget to check the flow and return coolant pipes under the car supplying the rear heater and booster heater

If there's no visible signs and no excess pressure in the system your EGR cooler may be leaking coolant into the exhaust system.

where you got job done ask them to do a pressure test on system to track it down, did you take car there due to leak if so go back as its not fixed or did you tell them it was the head gasket.

theres a sealer called k???? k seal cant think but its mint gear put it in mine for a rad leak 2yrs ago and no leaks cost

Did you thoroughly inspect the head? - particularly around the valve seats. Some PD engines developed micro cracking in the head - particularly if the engine had been remapped or a tuning box fitted. The micro cracks are difficult to see and have the habit of only opening up when the engine is hot. However,IIRC, the symptoms are excessive system pressure and water loss when hot.

Was the head checked to see it wasnt warped and in need of a skim?

There have also been cases of leaking heater matrixes c/w damp smell from heater...

Check for evidence of leaks at the engine radiator where the end tanks connect to the matrix.
