glenn Posted December 31, 2011 Report Posted December 31, 2011 Hi all. On my Galaxy when ever I start it I have the 2 rear lights show up on the dash display of the car, but as soon as I press the brake pedal they go off and don't show again till I re-start the car. I've checked all bulbs and they are fine and working. Does anyone know the reason for this please or have I just missed something silly? Quote
chrispb123456 Posted January 1, 2012 Report Posted January 1, 2012 Thats the bulb failure working correctly, when the light stays on then you have a problem Quote
bingo nightly Posted January 2, 2012 Report Posted January 2, 2012 Yes indeed it is all as it should be. The bulb failure test is not confirmed until the circuit is completed by you applying the brakes for the first time after start up. If the go out then that all is fine. Quote
glenn Posted January 2, 2012 Author Report Posted January 2, 2012 Ok thats good to know. Thanks for confirming that for me guys. Quote

chrispb123456 Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Are your brake lights actually working? if no then probably brake light switch. Quote
madpete Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 theres 2 bulbs each side make sure both bulbs each side are working. Quote
cprob Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 All bulbs are working and so are the brake lights. Quote
seatkid Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Make sure you have the correct bulbs in the correct way round. Each light cluster has two bulbs, one 5w single filament , the other is a dual filament 5/21W with offset pins - make sure this bulb is inserted the correct way round. Both bulbs should be lit when the parking/headlights are on. i.e. a total of 6 bulbs lit at the back when parking lights are on if you include the number plate lights. Check both number plate lights (5W each) are working and all brake lights are working fully. - One each side plus high level light. Please note LED replacements will trigger the warning as they dont take the correct current. Quote
AMacdonald Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 My Mk1 Diesel has decided to display the rear bulb warnings whenever the lights are on. Oddly, they go off when I press the brake. Sometimes they flicker rather than staying on all the time. I've looked for dodgy connections but not found anything. All lamps are OK so I just regard the warning lamps as "lights-on" indicators now. Quote
BigRik13 Posted January 14, 2012 Report Posted January 14, 2012 It's normal if they turn on when you've just started the car. Then will go out when you press the brake pedal - see the replies above. If they're flickering then I reckon you've probably got some chaffing in the wires leading to the trunk door, or the brake pedal switch, as above, is on the way out. Give these components a wiggle and see if that causes the flickering to worsen. Quote
