Hi,

No if i drive normal its fine setting off changing gear no probs. it starts between 2000/3000rpm. its as if its turbo/fuel related as it wont drive through the misfire I loose power. If it was DMF would I not suffer from some clunks on start up? also I've been looking through the history today and it had a dmf @ 85k its currently on 112k

Thanks for you time mate. Steve

Please, someone please help

I have a really bad judder, It's in every gear apart from 1st more so up hill and under

load IE, wife in the car or going up hill.

I have changed the Maf and cleaned out the inlet and egr valve things have improved

but not curred the judder... my question is as the egr and inlet was really and i mean really dirty is there anything else I can clean? inter-cooler? is there anything turbo related I can try? If I disconnect the map sensor she drives great but very very slow, would you agree this would rule out injectors or the wiring harness?

Any help would be great

Steve

I suggested this to my Dad but he thinks it would choke up and cut out, also it revs freely when the car is stood! never had a cat issue, any ideas on symptoms? although you could be right its as though its not getting enough fuel or as you say can't get rid of the pressure.

Just a suggestion really, i had an issue before were the car would run fine without issue nice and smooth on the level but when i went up or down a hill or when braking hard on a slip road when leaving motorway etc it would cough and splutter loseing all power, it would also cut out on the odd occasion but once i drove on the level again it would settle start running fine, turned out to be a choked cat. Another sympton was when reving it to say 3k in neutral the needle would stutter a little on it's return to tickover. Don't know if this is anything to do with yours and don't want to send you the wrong way etc but maybe worth maybe giving the cat a wack with your hand to see if it's broken up inside. Mine was petrol by the way not diesel.

Try running Vagcom while someone drives car for you, have a look at engine readings, you may have one cylinder out of spec.

Has it already left any fault codes for engine?

There are no faults according to my friends code reader, although it is only a e bay cheep thing. I have been out in it today with a car full and it drove shocking... I think its defo turbo related, its vibrated the whole car when the turbo is trying to kick in. Can the inter cooler get blocked?

Oh one more thing, For the first engine start of the day I get the red oil light flashing at me and three beeps  but there is lots of oil in it! could it be a faulty switch? could it even be connected issue.

Has oil and filter been changed regularly? if it has check oil pressure with a gauge if possible if that's not possible just fit a new switch.

Does the engine sound smooth when revved up from tickover? no rattly tapping noise.

Only just bought the car so not sure of the full history although the car was bought with ffsh (If its correct) the last service was Feb 2010 and its done 30k since then!! No wonder she's not happy.. Ha ha

Re Judder;

I wonder if it could be a failing CV joint? When my nearside inboard cv joint gave up (110k miles) the vibration through the car was quite epic.

It also split the gaiter and was obvious. When the offside inboard failed it was more subtle but still gave a nasty vibration at certain loads/revs.

When i replaced the offside shaft at my mates garage he commented that it still felt ok, but the replacement cured the problem.

Sound like offside half shaft.

Check the shaft from the Gearbox as well as the inboard CV joint. Failure seems to be related.

This was my first thought so I bought 2 new inner cv/drive shafts but it did not work.

I've cleaned inlet and and egr, tonight iv taken cat off and tried a new map! still there

.. Taking Turbo off in the next day or 2 as its the only thing left! lol

Can a turbo hesitate?

Thanks any more suggestions would be helpful

Presumably your engine is a PD....

Common fault that causes juddering is a faulty injector wiring loom or connectors to the injectors. Sometimes just cleaning the connectors clears the fault.

Yes its a pd, I've checked the wiring all seams ok. I called Ford and they say on my car

the loom has a built in fuel pressure sensor? and the loom is

I get you, The loom is fine from what I can see of it and I wouldn't say it's intermittent I could put money on when it will do it... defo turbo (he says) ha.

Found a receipt today among the history from Oct 2009 for a new turbo with a 2 year guarantee, I've called them and they will double check its OK FOC... fingers crossed. If not I'll get a loom.
