hi all i have a n reg 2.0 ford galaxy its seems to be reving really high and taking its time to come down been told it could be the idle speed control valve can any 1 point me in direction were this is located on the engine i have looked but cant see it been told to clean it out with some wd40 and hopefully should solve my problem any pics would be great thanks again

The idle control valve is mounted on the intake manifold you will need to disconnect injector multi plugs,then remove the two bolts and the plug to remove the valve.

You really need to clean it with a decarboniser not WD40.

Also check all vacuum hoses for splits and perishing as this will cause a high idle speed

Agreed, WD40 is not the all in one wonder product that many believe (mainly from the exaggerated claims of the manufacturer) - its basically just a light penetrating (fish) oil that has very little lubrication quality and dries out/disappears quickly.

so thats what its made of, fish oil. never had any joy using any penetrating fluid on market so i stick with my 15p bottle of asda vinegar works a treat acetic acid works mint.

whatever you do dont try to adjust the internal bolt stroke length as its factory set
