Im having a pain even budging this nut. Its hard to get torsion on it as when you try to use a spanner the cable twists with it. Is there any tricks you know of how to loosen this nut up so I can adjust the handbrake. Have tried the ol' WD40 but no luck :D

Hi

The picture is a little dark, so not sure, but is there not two nuts(one as a Lock nut) so you need two spanners, one to hold one nut

while undoing the other !

Does that make sense ?

Its very unusual to have to/need adjust cable are you sure brake caliper sliders are not seized, also whats the condition of the pads.

Pads are good. Handbrake working fine just that it needs to be lifted all the way to engage.

You can spin a couple of nuts on on the end of the thread and lock them together, then use these to hold the cable while undoing the rusty nut.

A cable must have stretched and possibly about to give way (one which goes to the calipers). Not usual to adjust cable lengths - only needed when new ones installed. Check the t piece is square when the handbrake is on to identify the faulty cable.
