jamietee Posted February 5, 2011 Author Report Posted February 5, 2011 Well the ford link sprung up a few a couple of suprises namely its saying its radiant red and left hand drive.lol.What i do know it did belong to a soldier based in germany and then imported over here.It still has lhd headlights and some service records are showing another registration of the same year,.The other registration doesnt show up on the etisford website.Am i right in thinking 1.9N is the engine code? zorgman Posted February 5, 2011 Report Posted February 5, 2011 nope not your maf its going into limp mode if you switch off and restart does power come back, maf is blamed for all sorts of faults even down to non starting the poor thing, engine codes will be ahu or afn or 1z, on the tdi badge has it got a red i ie TDII, norm its the afn 110 engine that does the limp mode due to varible vanes wheras the 90hp uses a waste gate and dont suffer limp mode good way to find its power is go onto a insurance quote site and itll tell u its power when it asks for the reg number Quote
jamietee Posted February 6, 2011 Author Report Posted February 6, 2011 Yes if you turn it off and let it stand for a couple of minutes it drives normal again. Its got a chrome tdi badge on the tailgate.Good advice to look at insurance website. Its got 90 nags under the bonnet lol.I drove it earlier and noticed the squirly symbol which i assume is glo plug warming light flashes all the time your driving it and the temp gauge just creeps into the normal part of the temp gauge. jamietee Posted February 20, 2011 Author Report Posted February 20, 2011 I have just been informed by the other half that the engine losing power has only started since she run out of diesel. Also she has a intermittent brake light problem.Only one brake light works then they both work together after a while of driving. It has had new bulb and there is no corrosion in lamp holder. jonbob Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 Its possible some muck may have been disturbed in the fuel tank and partially blocked the fuel filter, which is fine on idle but when the engine is under load and needs more fuel it may become starved. Its also possible that the brake light switch above the pedal is playing up, as not only does it turn the brake lights on, but also controls the ecu as to fuel usage on overrun etc. If you have VCDS is will throw up a fault code possibly 16955 Jon Quote
jamietee Posted March 19, 2011 Author Report Posted March 19, 2011 Sorted out my problem by fitting a new relay which is located behind the fuse box. part no. 357906381A.It has 109 printed on top.A friend of mine came across this relay which apparently a known problem on VW tdi engines,so for the sake of Quote
